Glad to see some things never change, Onyx. I've been out of the game for way too long, but what I need to know is whether or not OB's still hiding. He doesn't have any tentacled monsters to drop philosophy bombs to him, but I do wonder how he's been taking the whole "do nothing" motive for so long.
Also, when do we get a proper Lovecraftian cosmic horror instead of this superhero/ONI stuff for Halo 5? The Halo man inside me doesn't want another UNSC/Covie political affair. I'm exclusively hyped for Halo 5's SP because of the Guardians stuff [and even then, let's hope we get less Reed-isms from that section of the campaign].
Bonus question: Have we still gotten an explanation for why Truth was actively trying to destroy his own plan by sectioning off the people he needed to make his plan work? Or is Halo 3's plot still going full blown max overmoron?
HELO Missed you too Deydey! I've been dealing with a lot of weird stuff lately [like, I literally would not have time to explain why I don't have time to explain right now], I'm not consistently online on most places I usually used to be. How are ya holding up?

Edited by Boomdeyadah: 8/16/2015 7:27:14 AMOh that sucks but that's just what life does sometimes :( So happy to see you again, you kind of vanished one day I got a little worried. Lost too many good friends like that, one day they're there, next day they're not. I've been doing pretty awful the past few months. But I'm still hanging on, if only barely.

FORERUNNER CHARACTERS IN HALO 5, GOJI WARDEN ETERNAL, STRATEGOS (AS A KNIGHT), CORDYCEPT THE DIGITAL EXARCH, AND MASTER INTEX WE THINK THESE MAY HAVE BEEN AMONG THE ORIGINAL PROMETHEANS COMPOSED BY THE UR-DIDACT 343 is telling us next to nothing about the Forerunner stuff though.
WE THINK THESE MAY HAVE BEEN AMONG THE ORIGINAL PROMETHEANS COMPOSED BY THE UR-DIDACT
And now I have to kill them? I can't even betray the people killing them in Warzone can I? Durandal was so right.

JESUS. GOJIRA. YOU'VE RETURNED TO US!
but what I need to know is whether or not OB's still hiding.
Possibly. Halo: Escalations current story arc is the Absolute Record, and well, they just got to it. The last issue ended on a plot hook with it being revealed the Absolute Record is being managed by Contender-class Ancilla. Some are suggesting it's Offensive Bias. Though I'm reserved on that idea because I don't find it immediately logical that a war AI created for the sole-purpose of combating another AI would be managing the Forerunner's galactic cartographer.
Also, when do we get a proper Lovecraftian cosmic horror instead of this superhero/ONI stuff for Halo 5?
Halo 5's plot is under TIGHT wraps. Only thing we know is that the Domain is involved and is calling for the Chief, and this makes Blue Team go AWOL. Which Osiris is then sent to track them down. However, The manhunt aspect of the story appears to be somewhat of a facade for the real story, as Frankie said that the nature of Osiris' mission changes radically at the middle of the game. That and Frankie said that Halo 5 will change the Halo Universe in a fundamental way.
The Halo man inside me doesn't want another UNSC/Covie political affair.
The only thing we know on this front is that the Arbiter sends Osiris on a bunch of missions to help his cause, which, I assume would undoubtedly lead to uncovering clues to what Blue Team has been up to. OH. Also, Halo 5's story covers A HUGE span of time. Blue Team goes AWOL in early March 2558 (which gets covered in the game), but it looks like the "present" parts of the game take place in October 2558 or even beyond.
Have we still gotten an explanation for why Truth was actively trying to destroy his own plan by sectioning off the people he needed to make his plan work? Or is Halo 3's plot still going full blown max overmoron?
Nah, Halo 3's plot is still a total mess. Though, I don't remember if you were around for 343i to fix the High Charity going through the portal plot-hole. In other bad Halo story news, Halo: Fleet Battles patched up some more of Halo Reach's story, revealing how the Fleet of Valiant Prudence found Reach, and what they were after. Basically it makes Reach relevant to Halo's story now, as the Fleet of Valiant Prudence was looking for the Forerunner Capitol. It also suggests that Supreme Commander Rho 'Barutamee survived the destruction of the Long Night of Solace and faked his death in the process so he could continue searching for the Forerunner Capitol without being screwed over by the High Council for royally screwing up at Reach. Whew... Anyway, I had just found the video right before you made this post. =P How's the Geology/Archaeology going?
YOU'VE RETURNED TO US!
Not yet. Well, not entirely at the very least.
Though I'm reserved on that idea because I don't find it immediately logical that a war AI created for the sole-purpose of combating another AI would be managing the Forerunner's galactic cartographer.
Agreed, looks like I've gotta catch up on Escalation first. I still find it incredible how there is literally zero trace of Offensive Bias through post Halo 3 lore. There's always the creeping thought in my mind that he's already had an off screen death due to his lack of presence, but I choose to ignore that.
the Domain is involved and is calling for the Chief,
Saw that. I do wonder how AI-Didact must be in the grand scheme of things, considering it seems Promethean Soldiers are actively helping Chief into the Domain.
OH. Seems like we're in for a longer campaign? I wouldn't be surprised given that 343 presumably wants this game to dwarf Halo 4 in every possible way.
It also suggests that Supreme Commander Rho 'Barutamee survived the destruction of the Long Night of Solace and faked his death in the process so he could continue searching for the Forerunner Capitol without being screwed over by the High Council for royally screwing up at Reach.
YES. Finally, a nice reason to care. But board games? Madness
How's the Geology/Archaeology going?
*paleontology It's not, my focus is on muh theoretical math and comp sci. Thanks for the answers, Onyx. Looks like I've got quite a bit to catch up on, when I actually do return that is.

Fricken hydrostatic pressure...
Thanks for the answers, Onyx. Looks like I've got quite a bit to catch up on, when I actually do return that is.
What have you been up to anyway? Why the long hiatus?

IDK if you've started Calc 3 yet, but if it follows suite with what we learn here, it should be a big step up from 2.
What have you been up to anyway? Why the long hiatus?
Long story which I might explain later on. Well, a series of long stories, all culminating in one massive bunch of "huh?!"
If the Didact is manipulating the Domain to bait Chief, does that make him a professional galactic/ontological/semiotic sh1tposter?
Wasn't necessarily suggesting that, but TN72H certainly suggests the composed essences were supposed to be uploaded to the domain, or some kind of repository. So I wouldn't be surprised if when the Chief accesses the domain, the Didact will be there. Not a theory I'm banking on, but certainly a possibility. 'Tis the way of someone who majors in Game Design and Development.

Nice music. Especially at 9:42.
