During Halo 2 "The Oracle" mission, why didn't the covenant just launch a plasma torpedo and blow it up? Is there any reason besides game play? I know the Oracle was there but they didn't know that.

What he said, they went quietly so the Heretic leader wouldnt run.

The other thing too, is that even though the Arbiter destroyed it (making my statement hypocritical), if they sent a cruiser, the heretics would have detected the incoming ship and fled. Which is why they used a small squadron of Phantoms. "The storm has masked our approach."
