For one, you are not a Veteran. This game hasn't been out long enough for anyone to be a veteran, even if they didn't sleep and played through every second the servers are up.
People with the title veteran actually fought for something, were either drafted or volunteered for service. All you did was buy a damn game. Thank you for your "sacrifice" I'm sure you lost a lot of Doritos to the cause. Tell your mom not to forget the meatloaf.
What? You played the super-alpha-beta of Destiny?!? Congrats! Put that on your next job application and resume. I don't think you will get a "veterans" preference, unless it's for the next flavor of Doritos taste tester.
Go spend some time at your local VA hospital, and meet some real veterans.
Seriously though, this hashtag is stupid and you all need a new mantra.
Try the words Elder Guardian or be creative ffs.
If you have any decency of knowing what comes with that title, you won't compare it to the privilege it is to even play video games.
Now I'm going to go get some damn do-rites.
Edit1: Thanks for the convo BS, has been fun. Gotta go to the real world now, have fun trolling, you're pretty good at it.

The word veteran is not limited to a particular professional. In professional sports they have rookies and vets. Same with anything else. Nobody is calling themselves a "solider". So please......stfu.
-
Actually yeah that is something I've been wondering for a little while now, what is meatloaf? (I'm English btw and I'm not meaning for a response like "a loaf of meat") anyone explain please?

The word verteran does not just mean guy in armed forces, it also means someone who has done something first and/or for a long time.
-
The game has certainly been out long enough to have veteran players. Look at ESO.. The endgame is defined by "veteran ranks" and content for that level. The term veteran can be applied toward a multitude of activities and services.. Players of the game "destiny" that have been playing long enough to be looked at as veterans of the game should not have any bearing on what being a veteran means to you. I assume this thread was created because you are a veteran of something in your own right, and by the context of the op, I'm assuming armed forces? I'm sure anyone that knows you has great respect for your service, as well as citizens of whichever country said armed forces defends.. Even still, the term veteran, while widely used as a term for those that have served in the armed forces, is not exclusive to that service. Look up the definition when you get a chance.. A person who has had a lot of experience in a particular field. We could argue all day about whether gaming, or destiny for that matter could be considered a field, but undoubtedly it is a hobby for some who've put in thousands of hours towards it, and the fact that they have associated themselves as destiny veterans in no way diminishes your service as a veteran at what you do. I'm not posting this to knock you, but I think that maybe being satisfied with the service you've provided and the respect that comes as a result, should be of more importance to you than other people's proper(yes, proper, by its very definition) use of the word. Just food for thought.

I thought veterans were more than war heros. It's not just used in military.
-
Look up the meaning of veteran in a dictionary, that's a big book that tells you what words mean.
-
Can we not blur a uniformed service veteran with a label that gamers want to identify with. It's senseless. The term veteran has wider applications than just a military veteran. Plus, the derivative of the word is "old" so it just indicates a person that has experience in a particular field. This PSA comes from a fellow military veteran.
-
I do have to agree..it is kinda gay..it's a video game. ..A VIDEO GAME...you're not fighting for civil rights
-
Um... Veteran- a person who has had long service or experience in an occupation, office, or the like: a veteran of the police force; a veteran of many sports competitions. You don't have to be in the military to be a vet of something, it just makes you a military veteran if you did.
