I agree with you 100%. Here is my take. You spent the money you earned to play the game. You spent your time to collect the guns you enjoy playing with. Now along comes Bungie, and they say "Hey here's new content, but to move forward , you have to go backwards." It's just stupid.
The major arguments of "It's a MMO style game, that's what is supposed to happen, and its Progress" are crap. It's the developers responsibility to the consumer to appreciate the fact you are spending your money on their product., to make something better than what you have. So you'll purchase that content and try to acquire that new weapon or armor.
If you take the Mother of all money making MMO's WoW. They do the same thing. New expansion, two levels in, the gear you have is worthless. Destiny is the same way. It's one of about 20 reasons i'll not be buying this expansion.

Then don't get taken king and continue to use your weapons in TDB and HoW content.

Here is the thing you pay for the game and got the weapons and armor that came with that game. Now your going to complain that the gear you brought for that game isn't relevant for the other game that it wasn't even made for. My question is why would it?

That would totally be true if it were say Destiny 2. But this is an expansion. A continuation of the original game. Heck a brand new game I honestly expect to start over. But on DLC. It's still lazy development in my eyes.

However TTK is a new game with everything that they are doing. It is changing the way the game works from leveling, to gear, and even the world.

True, they have made a lot changes. However, it still is an expansion. You and I can agree to disagree on this. I think we are both correct in our own opinions . I firmly believe if you find it entertaining , and worth your money. Play it.

Yes it is an expansion but when people refer to the game they called the base game vanilla destiny and everything else by the name of the expansion. It is frame that way b/c expansion do change the game. Now some may not and only add new content but even that is different from the original. Bungie has even put a lot of importance on the years of destiny signaling TTK as the start of year II and thus a new destiny. This may also be the reason they added etheric light in the HoW giving people one last outing with their old gear and weapons before they are put to bed.
