Why?
Seeing as the kid would already have gone Khvostov 7G-02 (one mission), Green weapon 1 (one mission), Green weapon 2 (two missions), Blue weapon 1 (two missions) etc etc.
It was being able to ascend that was odd. Before that our weapons had always been disposable (apart from exotics).
