Better solution- keep ascension, but actually make it [i]hard[/i] to do, this time around. That way, players will be forced to get new weapons along the way, even if they plan to upgrade their old ones.
Etheric Light is [i]WAY[/i] too easy to obtain right now, it's a joke.

Or, let you ascend only 1 gun per character and it descends if you delete that character.

Well, it's 3 guns. I know what I'd pick. FateBringer, Vision of Confluence and Black Hammer. Note that we will probably be ascending exotics.
