You have to move on. To progress, we need to feel like we are always getting new, cool gear. If we ascend gear, we aren't getting newer and cooler guns and if we are, the old ones are irrelevant. SO WHY ARE YOU COMPLAINING?!

Better solution- keep ascension, but actually make it [i]hard[/i] to do, this time around. That way, players will be forced to get new weapons along the way, even if they plan to upgrade their old ones. Etheric Light is [i]WAY[/i] too easy to obtain right now, it's a joke.

Or, let you ascend only 1 gun per character and it descends if you delete that character.

Well, it's 3 guns. I know what I'd pick. FateBringer, Vision of Confluence and Black Hammer. Note that we will probably be ascending exotics.

Maybe I'd love to keep my sniper that I've had since the beginning, my very first legendary actually. Epitaph has never let me down and i don't want to lose it. In all fairness it is more of a keepsake but I still love it

You can still use old guns in PvP because of the "no level advantage". So the only thing the new guns will have is slightly more complex abilities and different stats. Attack is ignored.

Then you can still use your old guns with no problem. Just not in pve.

Not in my eyes. They still make you loot, earn, and find new guns, but if you still want to use the old ones, you have to use them in pvp.

And ascension doesn't matter there.

You can use a mix of old and new there. You will also be stopped by blueberries wanting to know where you got it if that is what floats your goat.

You are KEEPING your guns and that should be proof enough. You may not be able to get Destiny 1 exotics from Destiny 2 drops. So you can still bring along those relics.
