A lot of people have been saying "why did I even play year 1 if my gear will be obsolete?".
You played year 1 to play the game while this gear (the gear many of you are worshiping for some reason) was relevant. You played year one to beat the raids for the first time with your friends while they were relevant. You were there through all the highs and the lows. This is something new players will never be able to do. They missed out, you didn't. I couldn't be happier that all the old legendary gear is going away. The weapons were getting stagnant, and now I will have gear to chase again.
I do however think that from now until September 15th is a great time to take a break from Destiny. Now is a good time to go catch up on the other games you have been neglecting and make the TTK release all the more exciting for you. Your world is going to keep spinning, even without your old favorite weapons. You are going to find new favorite weapons just as awesome as Fatebringer or Vision of Confluence, if not better.
If knowing that your Fatebringer is getting left behind really ruins your life (like many of you are making it seem like) then maybe Destiny isn't a game for you. I bid you farewell, the door is on your left. For those of you that remain, I can't wait to see you on the front lines storming the Dreadnaught by your side.
See you on the front lines Guardians
