No. I got my Super Pox VLO on week one. It was my first legendary drop, and the engram actually stayed purple. That would only happen once more pre-patch. I got it while on patrol at The Forgotten shore, plowing through the enemies on the first ship. Its legend is irrevocably tied to the legend of my guardian. I have killed more enemies with it than all other weapons combined. It was at my side when I killed abominations from beyond space and time. It was my sword and shield when confronting dark gods hungry for my light. It was in my hand when I thwarted the Wolf rebellion. It was the first weapon I ascended, well before I boosted my two alts to max level. Bungie stated that our gear would tell the tale of our guardian. It's one of the few pre-launch promises that was kept. And here is mine, in one boxy, lethal package.

Look letting go is hard but you'll find another that's even better No one gets emotionally attached to khvostov and do you know why? It's inferior. But that was the gun that I used to single handedly slay my first archon priest. That's as much tied to [i]my[/i] legend as my messenger adept I'm happy for you that you've found your soul mate even if it's in a gun but the only reason that gun lasted you so long is because there wasn't jack shit to do in this game that it couldn't handle even when it couldn't be ascended, and now even more so when it could But if Crotas end had increased the level cap by more than 2 you probably would have dismantled it already because I guarantee a non raid level 30 legendary would not fare well in a level 35 raid the way destiny was set up Part of the whole becoming legend thing is collecting loot that's even better than what you used to use If you are that attached put it in your vault as a trophy Stop complaining that your level 20 won't still be relevant at level 40 because this is an rpg and few gear is ever lucky enough to be relevant 20 levels later in an rpg and go out and find gear that's even better and fall in love all over again

RPGs have the concept of Signature Gear. Your ancestral sword never becomes obsolete. The spaceship you won in poker game will never become scrap. If you wanted to ascend the khostav or stranger's rifle, I think you should be able to. That would be extremely cool. And no, I'm not interested in finding something "better". I have 4 or more pulse rifles from HoW that are at least as good, and reforgable to boot. I don't use them much. The legend of my guardian is inseparable from the legend of his weapon. That's what a legendary weapon is, after all, a weapon that is the focus of legends. And if I can't take it into Destiny's "brave new world", then I have no interest in going. Do I mind sacrificing other opportunities to make that happen? Not a bit. I'll happily shard five new primary legendaries to keep my signature weapon relevant. Do I mind a small, hard limit on the number of legacy items a character can advance? Perhaps as the end goal of a tough quest to earn the privilege? Again, I don't mind a bit. But I'm not going to grab my ankles at BOHICA, and ask if I can have another.

You're right RPGs do have a concept of signature gear But they also don typically increase the level cap by 20 in one expansion And if they do, take borderlands for example You're "signature gear" becomes quickly obsolete That doesn't mean you bitch and moan about it That means you get excited for the next cool gun that's about to fall into your lap Edit: trust me in no time you'll be playing this game and all of a sudden be like "man I had some good times with that pulse rifle" and then proceed to gun down a horde of thrall with your new pulse rifle that you love just as much as you did that one But right now you sound like a small child who's whining because they got a new toy instead of having the old one, broken beyond repair, fixed

Call it whining all you want. If I can't take at least some of my gear with me, I'm walking. That is a deal breaker for me. I play this game for entertainment. For fun. Losing the gear that I've put more time into than I care to think about, is the opposite of that. You don't find it a big deal. Party on. That you're excited about the next big thing doesn't bother me a bit. Which is why the announcement is so perplexing. Pretty much all players will be eager to check out the new weapons, so why eliminate the old ones? For a majority of players, the shortage of vault space will largely take care of that without outside interference. Without pissing off those of us who treasure the old weapons. Heck, most of those weapons won't even be new. Much like the celebrated Hopscotch is a reskinned Super Pox that's reforgable.

Stop blowing smoke if you're [i]that[/i] attached to a gun there's no way you're not equally attached, if not more, to the game itself

I've walked away from Destiny before. I can do it again. My wife would certainly appreciate it if I did.

Why should Exotics get it but not Legendary? You use more Legendary than Exotics.

Exotics are meant to be the best in the game And that's an easy question to answer Even with the currently -blam!-ed up RNG How many legendaries do you get as opposed to exotics I have enough split shifter pros to start my own gun store if trading were available And they're changing RNG to give you loot based on what you already have (you own no blues, all purples, therefore you will have an increased chance at a purple or orange) and decreasing the chance of getting something you own (you've gotten a split shifter already this week? Here's a hopscotch pilgrim instead!) Like I said I hope raid gear can one day be upgraded, because those are one of a kind, either through ascension or replay, but other than that, you will find, and this I promise you, another weapon that's exactly just like your old favorite at max attack rating. This isn't a prediction, this isn't a hunch, it WILL happen And if the stats are the same but the perks aren't then reroll it But you will never find another gun exactly like thorn or TLW, those are one of a kind That is why they should be able to get ascended Because my ill will is similar to hawkmoon (luck in the chamber and final round) but I can never roll it enough times to make it exactly the same But I can roll it until it's the same as my timurs lash
