If I get owned by a female gamer then fair play to them. Dames as if at a male. They are obviously better than me so why get salty.
But an all female clan is hypocritical of equality. Sexism works both ways.
Yes, the attitudes of "some" gamers can put females off, but I'm sure that the people who send insults do exactly the same to make gamers.
Female gamers can be dicks too you know.
But each to their own. Just don't complain about a clan that decides they are exclusively male if that happens.

Edited by Sanctus Michael: 8/6/2015 11:19:20 AMI see your pov, having an all female group which doesn't allow men is a reverse form of sexism. But, it's the actions of that group that matters. It's the derogatory comments and behavior that's the key issue here. You can have an all cop, all soldier, all medical clan that excludes those not fitting the discription, but as long as that group is civil, polite, mature, and behaves correctly, no harm/no foul. It's the harassing and discriminatory behavior of those TOWARD those groups (all cops, all female, all dads) that's unacceptable. Not the existence of those groups, but the behavior of individuals towards those groups. Does that make sense?

Women can make derogatory comments too, but I understand how much more cutting in can be from a man. Neither is acceptable but that is unfortunately the problem with online gaming. I'm a grown man with two girls, and playing in voice channels is always a no go for me on games like destiny. Not because I'm easily offended by comments, but because I can't be bothered to listen to nonsense. I'm not against the Dames, and I understand why it was set up, i love the fact that nowadays more women are interested in gaming than ever before. Back in my day it was 90% men who played. I just don't agree with the open sexism towards men that is flaunted by the clan when it would be accepted for Men only! The clan admin could remove anyone who broke the clan rules so that way, the female only is dropped and Men and Women who are insulting other members can be removed and blocked. That way, men and women with similar interests can start to enjoy gaming together and removing the stigma that goes with girl gamers and closing the divide that exists. Everyone wins. And I appreciate your sensible counter, rather than arguing that I was wrong in my opinion, so thank you.

Edited by Sanctus Michael: 8/7/2015 4:59:41 PMI'm a father as well, 2 boys. They don't live with me. They live with thier mother. I thought about joining dads of destiny, but they have this "absolute loyalty to them" clause that sort of rubbed me the wrong way. Felt domineering to me.

I know what you mean. Luckily I have a group of friends with kids who I play with so we are our own Dads of Destiny. Not worried about being in a clan myself. Of course it's always nice to have a few high quality players to help out but we do alright. I would happily play with girl gamers and even if they sucked, we would just have fun with it. Online social gaming should be an enjoyable experience regardless of player standards. As with anything, there will always be people who aren't as good as others but rather than insulting, I find I get more enjoyment from helping. My best Destiny moment was running a few randoms through VoG and Crota with a friend of mine. The randoms in the group said that they had tried numerous times and always failed because they didn't know the mechanics etc. the sheer joy and excitement from them getting gear and weapons made me proud. We still play from time to time and they still say thanks even now.

I like your pov. Your mature. I like older players (most of the time) for this reason. There is a maturity and wisdom that come with age. I'm a paramedic and medical assistant by trade, but a firearms instructor and amateur gunsmith on the side, so I love teaching. Why I don't care if I play with badly skilled players, I suck too anyway. Lol.

Edited by Sanctus Michael: 8/7/2015 5:01:02 PMYou're welcome, but truth be told, you're not wrong. You're absolutely right. By not allowing anyone but women, they themselves are discriminating. Ironic, when you think about it. Funny thing is, dames said in thier video they wanted a "safe haven for women". A safe haven is accomplished by the members of that clan, albeit men or women. They can accomplish the same goal by having a "non discrimination" clan composed of men and women. Doing this will also lessen criticism from the outside

Makes sense. But all society cares about is sex and race. Imagine if it were an all white male clan? So....either everyone can "clan up" the way they want or no one can. Easiest solution. Tired of people trying to shut down what they dont like and at the same time putting what they do like on a pedestal.
