I've played PvP alone for a majority of the 10 months Destiny has been out. I've stuck mainly to Skirmish, Salvage, Rumble and the occasional Clash. I never liked Control. I've always done pretty well and never found it hard to acquire a 2+ K/D in most games. However in random matchmaking, the randoms that get placed on my fireteam are almost always horrible. 80% of the time, they can't even go positive and will often have a K/D below 0.50. This doesn't just happen once in a while or even every few games; this is almost EVERY SINGLE GAME that I ever play without a premade team. What I don't get is why can't there be some sort of skill based matchmaking or vote to kick option in case the randoms are making it incredibly hard to win. I've usually just sucked it up or in severe cases, reported, blocked them and eventually moved on but about a month ago, I got fed up with playing alone. It's gotten to the point to where I will scream my head off at them and even harass them over PS4 chat which is an incredibly stupid idea. I fear for my sanity if I ever have to play with randoms again. Bungie, if you're reading this unintelligent tangent of a post, please fix your matchmaking. All of my high skill friends and I get the worst players to shamelessly carry just because we're good. MM is broken and should be balanced a lot better. It's not fair to be punished with potato players just because the server thinks you're good enough to carry them.

I'm not in favor of a "kick" option: bad players would never get to play and since there are more bad players than elite, Bungie would have a huge problem on their hands. Plus, my guess is they're just as pissed as you are that they're getting stomped and can't do anything. But your other point I can't bump enough. It is exactly what Bungie should be doing. Some combo of grouping players based on mode K/D, overall K/D, and W/L ratio and THEN forming teams to balance would let bad players still have fun and let really good players not get stuck with an anchor. I fall somewhere in the middle, skill-wise, so it doesn't affect me as much. I can play with really good guys without getting frustrated or holding anybody back and can lead the team in points and kills and am aware enough to know that's not always a good thing for the team's chances of winning. But what you're talking about would make everybody's experience better. I know they do some of that. When I play with my elite friends, we almost always get matched against tougher players than when I run solo. But most players can tell when there are one or two players that obviously don't belong in that match, for better or worse.
