I know some of you arent smart enough to have spotted this implication, but basically, light levels are being done away with, and normal leveling will resume, this means, you will lose that 34, and start again at twenty when the new dlc releases.
So whats your reaction to that, and the fact all that hard work for gear to level up islost?
Im suspecting that is your face above considering you just figured it out.

I really hope you're right. I don't want to be level 34 and only have 6 levels to get to the cap.
-
Your light armor Will still get you to 34. However you can't get any higher with light. In order to level up past 34 you have to level up your normal level from 20 to 34. If you look at the start menu in game you'll see your level and your light level. Basically you will be level 34 until your regular level is above 34

Cant wait.

I don't car the only way I'd ever leave this game is if they took the prizes I've saved
-
I would like to know what your reaction is to wrongly ASSUMING we would be level 20?
-
DeeJ said starting September 15th we would be the level that we ended at, so if we are level 34, we will be level 34
-
Edited by Lrich1986: 8/7/2015 2:43:15 PMYeah you're wrong. Deej already said in an interview. If you're level 34 now you will be level 34 when ttk comes
-
I don't think it's working. They aren't buying it.
-
I'm glad light is going away. Feeling like you are progressing in gaming makes you accomplished. Having your level tied to gear makes everyone seem the same. Leveling up again to be able to take on Oryx makes this seem more RPGish. I wonder what level we will be at? 20 with light 34? 34 with light 34? 20 and 20? No confirmation yet from Bungie.

Edited by ChefBrye: 8/7/2015 2:41:58 PMQzip is right. In yesterday's interview, deej mentioned how light was removed from your base lvl from 1-40. However once you hit 40, light will still again play a part. Its not to define lvls past 40, its about your overall power and all equipment will contribute to your light lvl. Deej also stated that certain endgame activities will be light restricted/recommended He gave an example of something requiring 300 light. To me it sounds like the item lvl system in place in world of warcraft.
-
You aren't being reset to 20 you will start as the level you are now
-
I would love that tbh
-
You sit on a throne of lies
-
As long as the activities match what levels are obtainable then we are good to go!
-
In all honesty i plan to delete my warlock and start the story over when ttk drops just to experience the new ghost....of course all my gear i plan on placing in my vault, so it does t really bother me at all i actually welcome it

Edited by monkyken: 8/7/2015 3:40:44 PMDeej explicitly said in an interview that we will stay at the level we are (accounting for light level) and will then have to upgrade and update our xp from that point onward, I would be interested to check if you took all your armour off before this happened if it would lock you at 20 instead of you're available max of 34. To confirm, I am talking in future tense, if you are currently LIGHT LEVEL34 Deej said you will then fall to level 34 when light is no longer applied after TTK is released. My question is what if you don't have your light increasing amour on at the time the change happens will you be locked at 20 or your max available with light at that time? Yes I am aware max is 20 I did play the story and then have to use the light level to get to 34 like everyone else. Video where i got my information, check out just after 5:10 for the relevant information: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cNIu0fMtMg

I think they attempting to bring back the RPG aspect of the game. I mean some of us havent havent 'earned' xp since October of last year i.e. creating a new character and then progressing. It seems they separated the light and the leveling. I wouldn't mind starting at 20 and move up from there. 6 levels isnt a lot at all. At any rate, we'll see more as the date gets closer. Personally I'm looking forward to the weapons. I am going for all the auto rifles!!!

I like how you assume this and state it as fact.
-
Edited by Lethenza: 8/7/2015 2:53:32 PMYou start off at 34, confirmed by Deej
-
Edited by Mithrandir: 8/7/2015 2:53:37 PMWell in an interview for ign deej said you will start at level 34 in the taken king if you are already there and if you want to start a new character you get an item that boost you to a competitive level that will allow you to play the taken king
-
I would rather level 20 than 34
-
Yes because you have confirmation about this where did you hear that....nowhere because it's not true at all Deej confirmed that what ever level you are you will be able to continue from.
-
Edited by Baloysuis: 8/7/2015 2:53:11 PMI was hoping that well, you know how after level 20 you keep leveling up to gets motes of light? Well why don't they just give you that level. That why the experience would mark the playtime. Vanilla players would be max (or almost) as soon as TTK hits people that joined later would have to rank up from whatever they were at. For example I have earned 27 notes from ranking up after lvl 20 which means I'm lvl 47 I know a guy who bought HoW (who has friends and RNG loves him so he's done everything and I still haven't gone flawless) he'd be level 27
-
So do you feel stupid now? I'm getting the feeling you are feeling stupid now
-
What's the new level cap?
