I know some of you arent smart enough to have spotted this implication, but basically, light levels are being done away with, and normal leveling will resume, this means, you will lose that 34, and start again at twenty when the new dlc releases.
So whats your reaction to that, and the fact all that hard work for gear to level up islost?
Im suspecting that is your face above considering you just figured it out.
-
I thought we get a free bump to lv 34?
-
Reading between the lines I've gathered that it means I can use exotic armor in all slots
-
You know you'll still be at the same level, you'll still get light but it's for your armor not your level. But it will suck for the new player who have to start at level 1
-
Its alright good thing a saved that experience thing from the red bull code
-
Thought we were starting at 34 but if not then :P Whose ready to give the loot cave a vist and make it the Exp. Cave? :P
-
How would we be able to do the level 25 TTK first mission at level 20?
-
Finally getting out of beta! But seriously, light level was fucking stupid to begin with. Glad it will be gone.
-
DeeJ said that we would begin in our current light level
-
It won't matter. Light level still matters, just not for player level. That means, even if you are 20, the gear you previously used for Skolas level 35 will mean you are just as effective at Skolas level 35.
-
Deej said in an interview that we would stay lvl 34 and progress from there
-
I am not sure if it is correct as there is so much being thrown around right now but I read somewhere that there would be a one time use item provided at the start that you could use for one of your characters that would take them from 20 to whatever light level they are now (which should be 34) so that that character would be ready to go straight into the taken king gameplay . All characters will go down to 20 but you can pick one to use the item on and start at 34. The others would be at 20
-
I don't really care all that much. I like the fact that we will rank up by XP now
-
Bahaha I love how you say "some of you aren't smart enough to spot this implication" when this isn't even happening. Been confirmed by gameinformer and deej himself that we'll transition from our current levels to the new system seamlessly. OP is a stupid idiot. Enjoy your mute.
-
Thought on being wrong?
-
I don't mind

Bungie has done some stupid stuff in the past but they're smarter than to take 14 levels away from their players. Its true that light levels will no longer be attached to your gear but they're essentially just transferring those "light levels" to your character, not erasing them completely. On another note I'm glad we wont be able to ascend year one gear. the ascending system was cool but way broken (as was re-rolling). some players were level 34 within hours of HOW release, Something that Bungie said would not be possible. Players have been stockpiling etheric light so they can shoot straight to 40 within seconds of TTK dropping which in my opinion is cheap as hell. just being able to use the best end game weapons and armor the whole game and jump from end game to end game makes it so you don't need to play 80% of the new content added so then people complain there's not enough because they only play the new raid. I'm actually looking forward to creating a new character and experiencing the game again in its new form. and if I get bored of being low level there's that supposed item that gets one guardian to "minimum level required to play TTK".
-
They said you will not lose your current light level.
-
It'll be better to experience the story this way, because the idea is a need for new power thus the new subclass.
-
Hoping this is top comment because you are extremely wrong. You really should watch/ listen to the interview that is EVERYWHERE before posting. Deej expressly said that if you are level 34 when TTK drops you START at 34 and then use xp to get to 40 (this is the case no matter your current level) Also, light is immediately relevant. it determines your guardians Strength and Defense. that is why we see it on the guns now. Armor with higher light = higher defense.
-
We should go to 0

Edited by Chika: 8/7/2015 3:13:18 PMFirst off, your not gunna start at Lvl 20 come September 15. Your gunna start at the Lvl you are at now ( so if it's Lvl 20 idk what your doing with your life cuz it's easy to get to Lvl 32). Second, farming exp was exactly what I was doing my first few months in destiny. I was Lvl 24 and had no idea how to get a new light Lvl, no idea how to get legendary gear, and no idea what strike playlists were. I was just doing the vanguard bounties every day thinking it would help me. So I'm literally a master at getting exp. Third, the gear that we currently have is still going to be a viable option for their corresponding activities. It's better to have the increased agility from your Crota boots when your a sword bearer. It's faster to destroy oracles in VOG with a VOG weapon. And we all know that a shank burn on a void HOW rocket launch is the best thing since sliced bread. Our gear will still be useful and it's still looks sick ( besides poe guns).
-
Eh, probably won't effect me.
-
Your actual Lvl and your light lvl will not be the same anymore but you will stay at 34 with your actual gear and your light lvl will still be important as DeeJ said in the IGN interview
-
You are right. Anyone who disagrees, please check your character screen and pull your foot out of your mouth. We're all at level 20. I guess it won't matter unless the raids and PoE remain level 26-35?
-
I really hope you're right. I don't want to be level 34 and only have 6 levels to get to the cap.
