Discrimination and the frustrated community; an equality story

The most recent Bungie bounty, a hunt for the Dames of Destiny and our "beloved" community managers, has unveiled a seething hatred and disrespect in the community. The Dames as we know them, are a all female clan who participated in the Bungie event; and how the forums were set ablaze. Threats including but not limited to: -blam!-, beating, and death were posted, for a such a pointless event, and I think I know why. I'm not a bigot I understand why these comments and threats were issued, but I do not condone them. I speak my mind If there was a clan that only allowed membership to men, would it get any communal focus? Probably not, but a clan of all gay men might! Do any of you see an issue there? I'll say it again, just to be clear. I am not a bigot, I am simply a realist. We try so hard not to discriminate, yet that passion turns into favor. In our path to acceptance, we've somehow alienated these groups of people, giving them social liberties that others don't have. So is this truly equality? I'll let the community answer that one.
We are only human
Edit: Hatred in anyway should be punished accordingly.
