This isn't even just an mmo thing. Like, borderlands did this kinda thing and nobody cried as hard these forums did about it.

Edited by Rokon: 8/5/2015 8:45:00 AMBorderlands loot system created weapons based in weapon parts. More than half of the weapons you find are garbage, and you were only left with Purples, Oranges and the occasional Blues with Red text. Sound familiar?
-
Yeah but the thing is, you could grind for another norfleet at lvl72 but you won't be able to get a fatebringer at lvl40
-
You'll just have to find another handcannon with similar stats and upgrades.
-
So you just admitted it isn't like borderlands.
-
I mean, most of the legendaries are a lot of the same guns just like borderlands. I have about 4 scout rifles that are almost exactly like the VoC. Kinda like how bl legendaries aren't all exactly alike. They have prefixes that make them each different.
-
I loved Borderlands. They did no such thing. The Maggie and Norfleet are still incredible.
-
Yes they did. They introduced new lvl caps and you had to get new norfleets at the next cap
-
But the Norfleet didn't become obsolete, the level in which the Norfleet was did.
-
Eh, semantics find another one that's functionally identical. It won't be exactly like the one you had before hug more or less the same deal.
-
Borderlands didn't really tho, ( im assuming your talking bout 1 and 2) because there was legendaries which I used from about lvl 8 to 72, a lot of the best guns were in the game from the start and used to the end
-
Uhhh in 2? That's not true at all. If you had a lv 8 legendary that thing got outclassed quick until you got another one. And the bl2 cap changed 3 times.
-
I'm saying I could use a lvl 8 Harold, then at lvl 35 one , then at 50 then at 61 then at 72. All the good legendaries you would use all game through, and cause there was no limit on the amount you could use there was no incentive to use lower quality guns except a sand hawk or grog nozzle
-
Except you're not holding on to the very same gun all the way through. You're ditching it when you find another one that's stronger and with better stats. More less the same thing except borderlands legendaries are more similar to exotics in that each one is unique
-
If they can give me a stronger Prudence I'll be happy to dismantle my old one. Yet the mechanics of the gun change due to perks. Your argument is invalid. The weapons in Borderlands never became useless because you could hunt or trade for the SAME WEAPON AT A HIGHER LEVEL SAME WEAPON
-
Bl2 legendaries were more like exotics in how unique they were at least. Destiny legendaries are more or less the same thing all around.
-
That's because borderlands had more content.
-
At level cap the only guns that mattered were legendary and each dlc only added a few. Every other weapon below legendary aside from a few distinct Rares or iridium weapons were randomized and usually garbage.
-
You could also keep every gun
-
You can keep every gun in Destiny too.
-
Perhaps now, but i feel with this new expnsion that wont be the case anymore. Hard to hold onto all your uniques, legendaries, and exotics for collectors. Especially when you add armor to the mix
-
That's why you learn to adapt. New better things come along to replace the new. Sure, you can hold onto a few that have that sentimental value but keeping everything would be ridiculous
-
More vault space then.
-
No. You have to change or leave. Get used to it.
-
Wow change or leave. You should work at Bungie, you fit in nicely.
-
Those who refuse to adapt are left behind. Sorry but that's things have always worked.
