I don't even really know exactly what happened, but I dunno how anyone couldn't predict something negative was gonna happen when Deej and some broads team up against random people in the wild west known as the Interwebz.

Maybe. But Bungie/Activision and PSN/MS can issue permanent bans when such words and behavior cross the line. Right? No matter what, we are all still held responsible and liable for our actions and words. Remember that. In everything in life. You are ALWAYS responsible and liable for your actions and words.
Maybe. But Bungie/Activision and PSN/MS can issue permanent bans when such words and behavior cross the line. Right?
That sounds like a terrible way to deal with the problem. I'm glad you aren't in a position to enact such mindless rules.

Sorry for you, but other companies have and do suspend and ban people for their behavior. Maybe you've gotten used to fourms that is an example of anarchy. But I have a friend who was suspended from xbox live for racial reasons. Go ahead and send a woman a message through xbox live (as that's evidence) with sexual or racial derogatory comments and when you're reported, tell me how that works out for you. You don't think Stiv and other moderators have banned and suspended players on battlelog for thier posts, think again. Welcome to the 21st century. Chauvinism, racism, and other discriminatory behavior is being less and less tolerated in public venues. Like how smoking was being advertised as the "cool thing to do" or accepted in most restaurants in the past, it's slowly being less tolerated and accepted. Just a matter of time. Change is slow, but it does occur.

Please, give me examples of those companies that ban you permanently. Just cut to it--no fillers, nothing. It's called business. Banning people permanent for that is a, simply put, stupid move. Countless players would be banned for simple instances that only sparked out of momentary anger (i.e. losing in ToO). Not only would that not work in general, but it'd be extremely detrimental for a game like Destiny. The people that were banned could have spent hours on end getting their characters to where they did, and it's not far-fetched to believe that they'd be so agitated as to boycott any further Bungie products in general. As for DLC's and expansions, those people wouldn't be able to take their now banned accounts and play the added content. That idea would just hurt the pool for buyers available and, ultimately, profit. "Oh, but people should learn to control themselves and not say mean things." People should learn that being called a "camping ****sucker" or "lag-switching d-bag" is transient and funny, perhaps maybe even flattering (apparently you're doing that well). Grow up; life is full of insults, many of them being pretty easy to shrug off.

So you excuse someone for thier behavior simply because they were angry? That anger, and failure to contol your emotions, is an excuse for your actions? That you are not responsible for your actions simply because you were angry? You have heard of children commiting suicide becausr of the words from bullies? How about emotional abuse from a man to a woman in a relationship, that doesn't exist either, right? Words, can do as much harm... more.... than a fist. A woman will tell you, whose been in a physically and emotionally abusive relationship, thay the emotional was far worse. The physical heals, words can echo for years after. Idk of you have children, but I hope if you do none are bullied via online or in person and attempts or succeeds in suicide. I sincerely hope not. That's horrible. But if that does happen, please re-read this and tell yourself, it was just words. And it wasn't a big deal.

I'm not sure what part of that last sentence you didn't understand, but I guess it's the "many" part. Meaning, "not all". An example being BS insults from an online game. If you decide to kill or harm yourself for a random comment someone who doesn't even know you made online, then, quite frankly, that's retarded. Grow some skin and ignore it. I've felt emotional pain and came through to believe that I will never hurt myself like that. I remember vividly how I tried to cut myself before, but wielding that knife to my suspect was as far as I went, because I decided that I was not silly enough for that dumb s***. Excuse my language... They can control themselves. I didn't say they lose control. It's cathartic; even I do it once in a blue moon because I feel kinda stupid doing it. Any human being should be able to understand catharsis and that it calls us down. I myself would rather make my outbursts vocal (I have no mic so I know they can't hear me). I think it's whatever. But that's me. Thank you for your sincerity but I don't want kids. But thanks for that anyway.
Still waitin' for the names of those companies.
Edited by Sanctus Michael: 8/6/2015 6:27:26 PMI get what you're saying. To brush off the small stuff. I agree. As far as company names. Dice on it's battlelog fourm. Stiv (can't remember other moderators name) will remove or lock posts/topics for many reasons, including violation of code of conduct. They will also suspend or ban for infractions and repeated infractions for the CoC. I will see a post where he writes something like user has been suspended for 3 months (or he may write 1 year) for violations of the code of conduct (or may write repeated violations for code of conduct) and this post has been removed. Or he may write this thread has been locked for violations of the CoC. Or he will write a warning stating how a user's post has been removed for violations of code of conduct and repeated violations will result in a ban. I'll have to search to see if I can find a link to an example. Sorry, I'm at work. I've been working on this reply for 1.5 hours and when I finally got back to finish it destiny was down for maintenance and I watched everything I wrote disappear. I'm writing now in a notepad app and rewriting what I wrote. My friend got suspended for 1 month by xbox live because he is a white guy (you can tell obviously when he talks on the mic), has an African American avatar, but a monkey for a gamerpic. An player reported him to MS stating he was implying that African Americans are monkeys. This isn't the case, he's a white guy who wishes he was born black. Point is, MS cares and punishes. And he was suspended from xbox live, which means all games using online capability or the online portion of a game. Btw, you're smart for choosing to never have kids. Stay free and full of money, lol. Point is, the world is changing and the tolerances of companies in relation to their public fourms are changing too. Little things are nothing, but things like r4pe threats or derogatory racial comments a company can't ignore. Imagine if I have a message from someone with text that falls within this sort of degree, wrote a complaint and reported it, that company ignored it, and I posted on youtube, twitter, Facebook, or where ever the message sent to me, the complaint to that company, then the company's inaction. It's a PR nightmare. Somethings a company can ignore, others they can't. Not if it's reported. And bungie has banned players for various reasons, but bungie specifically said they will don't list who or for what offense so as to not give these offenses attention. The who is ok, but they should state that x amout of players has been permenantly banned for this offense. If they don't, how can others learn? Just my opinion. My sympathies that you know first hand the damage of words and emotional abuse. But that also at least provides you an understanding about others pov. Small things I get, but even you must admit a line must be drawn somewhere and that bungie needs to start enforcing CoC with at least suspensions. Otherwise we have anarchy.

I agree that bans and restrictions should be enforced. I just don't think they should be permanent. Something just bothers me about the idea that someone who enjoys gaming will be ostracized from the gaming world in a system (or whatever) of their choice. I would hope that bans teach them enough, and only under the circumstances of four or more repeated bans would I feel that it is okay to ban someone permanently. But I agree with a need to know when someone has crossed the line. R4pe threats, extreme hate speech, serious murder threats: those aren't the little things.
