Destiny is closer to Guild Wars than other MMOs.
Guild Wars was released in 2005 and has 3 major expansions (larger than TTK will be that's for damn sure).
Guild Wars is 10 years old (10 year plan anyone?)
I can still use gear I got within the first month of Guild Wars in a very effective manner to this day.
