That the day The Taken King releases.
All that gear your grinded for for hours on end and worked hard to get is becoming useless.
All that ascending for nothing.
Thanks Bungie. I'm cancelling my pre-order.
This is just pathetic.
We're getting remodelled weapons with different names and colours.
Devil You Know and Revelator have same base stats.
Red Hand IX and Lone.Rebel have same base stats.
Deadshot Luna SR1 and B-Line Trauma have same stats.
I'm so happy to dismantle my favourites for identical overall base stats DUPLICATES.
Everything will continue to be the same.
Yes "move on" to "better weapons".
All that changes are the name, colour and a slight adjustment to the models.. The attack value goes up.
Yet THE BASE STATS WILL DUPLICATE.
Edit: Yes this is my first MMO.
Yes I love the weapons I am currently using.
Yes I love playing Destiny, gameplay is incredible.
Yes I will complain when things piss me off.
Edit 2:
This is an MMO.
This isn't an MMO.
I really couldn't care less about the genre.
Edit 3: If you're happy spending money for your weapons, that you worked hard for, to become obsolete then good for you.
I chase the weapons. You may chase armor, grimoire, experience or enjoy doing the same thing week in week out.
Insults don't affect me, in fact it shows how low your intellect is.
"They said wait" they shouldn't have to.
They shouldn't let people jump to conclusions.
They shouldn't let misinformation be released.
Edit 4: unlike the majority. I rarely use my fatebringer.
Final Edit: After reading many constructive replies and having checked in on Destiny today. I've decided I'm going to have to line up all my weapons and start cutting them out. Keeping all exotics and useful crucible weapons and those I consider to be useful.

I would advise to hold onto the extra armor and weapons until we get a clear picture of the "sacrifice" option someone apparently discussed from bungie. I've started to collect extra exotics and public event packages.
-
cry about it
-
It's going to be ok.
-
It sucks when I have to get different armour and weapons in mmo's. But its an opportunity to improve and change your play style. Everyone gets bored of the same weapon eventually.

Please, delete your forum profile too so we don't have to read anymore of your over entitled sob story!

Lol @ edits. Every one of you sound the same (they terk our jerbs!) :) like you were gonna quit hahaha.
-
They shouldn't let people jump to conclusions
And how to you propose to monitor that? Bungie releases info on these forums, twitch Reddit, Game Informer, IGN, and many others. They can't be responsible for people not reading these articles, ignoring the info, or forgetting what they read. So again, how can they moderate people jumping to conclusions?
Insults don't affect me, in fact it shows how low your intellect is.
Not true, all my characters have 100% intellect.

Someone says, bungie won't care we leave. I hate to break it to you, but yes. When cancellations on pre orders are topping over 200k, yes that hits them where it matters. Their bank account. They are facing 2 class actions currently, and one is supported from Microsoft. Bungie better start listening or they will very quickly end up losing destiny like they did halo. For all you people saying it's a cod mindset and treat it like an mmo. For one, bungie states "above all else destiny is a shooter" so cod is really a better comparison. For all you people saying other games replace gear with new content, I agree. However, they don't do it every 4 months and they release tons more content with each xpac. Very big difference. Sure on wow my level 60 weapons were outclassed with BETTER weapons after BC dropped. however, BC dropped years after vanilla, not months. BC also didn't have just recoloring of old weapons and make them less effective. It includes tons of truly unique new things. Again, this is a huge difference. The problem isn't a cod mindset, it's a sheeple mindset. Good job op with your post.

Its going to turn into more of a RPG game if anything in the next couple of Years Kind regards Richard Clan Cornwall UK

Oh God I'm so bored of these posts. Go and play something else if it bothers you that much.

Beat skolas , git gud first

You've had these weapons for a while year, you've spent your time with them now go get the new gear. This is the problem and bungie wants it fixed, players are way to attached to their old weapons and won't pay attention to the new ones so leaving old for new is the better idea. It's like leaving last gen behind for new gen, just keep your gear and in year 5 you'll have all year 1 gear and can show it off in the tower and use it in the crucible and show the later generation of players just how good year one really was. Besides your gear isn't great in PvE, but still will be in pvp
-
All I can say is deal with it, your weapons you been using will be replaced by something better, as the last dlc didn't have raid weapons etc, just play the game with friends enjoy having fun and enjoy the gameplay and stop moaning
-
You're able to ascend it still, I think. I haven't been really paying attention to the weapons, I just focus on other things than that.
-
Just a point OP, the reason why people jump to conclusions and spread misinformation is that these forums have an awful lot of talk and not enough listen.
-
"Insults don't effect me" *makes edit because insults*
-
Dont mind so much, except the "window" for anything is pretty short. I'm still grinding for Black Hammer, Hunger of Crota, Necrochasm and Gjallarhorn. But even if they drop today (and I'm betting they won't), I'll barely have time to level them before they're useless. Sure, old weapons become irrelevant, that's what an MMO is about. But could I maybe have them become irrelevant *after* I get them, not before? If I don't buy TTK, it won't matter; all my year 1 gear still becomes irrelevant. I would have thought ina "Development Path" MMO style gear and character levelling game, your weapons would be relevant while you are the appropriate level for them, in the same way that I kept the lowest level decent Sniper rifle I found for my 2nd and 3rd characters to use. But it's not that the Vault or Crota gear and weapons are the stepping-stones to the new highest level content, it's that they are completely irrelevant, and nobody will ever want them again. It's practically an encouragement to stop playing until TTK.
-
Used it when it was relevant, didn't you, let's say you never had this stuff at all. Then it would suck, I used them for nightfalls, raids, PoE, trials, crucible, etc. It was useful year one, Destiny is not an mmo by story at all, but by gear, it is comparable. All mmo games do this, its just that most Destiny players are FPS players or gave gotten used to FPS mindset, like CoD, level doesn't matter at all, the time to kill is so low in CoD. That's why people are upset about gear, that their, "prized possessions" will be outclassed by commons. (That's not a good idea IMO, at least other legendaries to be stronger)
-
Then stfu and leave nobody wants to hear your bitching kid
-
What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everybody on these forums are now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
