So according to the latest news, you will not be able to upgrade legendary year one weapons/armor. All those dragon strikes for Hopscotch and guess what... there will be stronger ones out. Those fancy adept weapons from trials... pfft sit down, we got bigger and better ones coming. Oh wait, the mighty Fatebringer will be no more. Gotta love the direction this game is heading in. 10 years people this is the plan. Mean while, $1000 later, regrind again.
In case you people still want to call it a MMO *cough From Bungie-
Destiny is a first-person shooter video game developed by Bungie and published by Activision. Released on September 9, 2014, Destiny marked Bungie's first new franchise since the Halo series. Set in a "mythic science fiction"
I love it! The flames are rising in the forums now. So many similar topics all over the place. I might change my name to Firestarter. Keep up the good work. This stuff is gold, especially when bored at work. I need more entertainment. Not sure how long this topic will stay alive before it's nuked like a previous topic I created. I also appreciate the defenders justifying their hard earned time. Keep telling yourself it wasn't all for nothing.
Picture your favorite car... Do you buy the next model each year or do you hold onto it because you love it? Too expensive, no problem. Do you buy new ice cream every week or do you stick with what you love? You have your comforts and so do I.
Have a nice day!

Per Cozmo https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/144097729/0/0/1 calm down m8
-
So what , who cares dude. Every single mmo always replaces old guns with newer more powerful ones, bungie could've left Fatebringer at 300 and people would still use it. I'll be happy to replace my old weapons
-
They'll only be useful in normal Crucible, so some stuff will be good to keep around.
-
Play to have fun, when it stops so should you. - some guy
-
1000$ is cheap
-
Oh you must be new to MMO's. Hey if you want to play the same game for 10 years with the same weapons and armor, well have fun with that.
-
100% done, any Day 1 alpha player has wasted all this time on two DLC's and Day1. It's like they won't matter at all lol. Their is Absolutely Zero Reason to play until TTK then you've basically started over.
-
You would think Bungie learned from the exotic weapon reset with TDB. They are the most schizophrenic game developers out there.
-
As far as I see it I don't want to still be using fatebringer 10 years from now. It's a great gun but it shouldn't be useable for that long
-
Edited by Scottathon79: 8/4/2015 10:20:28 PMI think I'm done too. 1300 hours, all exotics (minus dregs), and every adept/raid weapon. A lot of time wasted. I don't mind grinding again but to negate all the effort I've put in. Blah What I may do is wait until the end of year two and buy the package when the discount it. Then it'll hopefully have enough stuff to make it worth it and not boring. Basically always play destiny a year late.
-
Maybe it meant nothing to YOU. I on the other hand had a fantastic time, and all of my exotics are coming with me. So speak for yourself, I am happy and content.
-
Yeah I'm bummed no more fatebringer
-
Don't really care about the weapons. But if they don't add in a way to use the armor we think looks the best then I will be upset. I can't stand playing games where everyone wears the same armor.
-
Oh my god WHO THE HELL CARES.
-
Edited by B: 8/5/2015 2:03:47 AMI've never had to grind for anything aside from hopscotch, but I use it mostly in normal pvp anyways so damage stats aren't really an issue.
-
Well, wtf are u gonna use for the first mission of TTK? Ur gonna need to use it for ONE mission, then u can replace it with new suros guns or something Also, attack doesnt matter (that much)in low level content,(pretty much any level 38 mission and under, u can still do decent damage, did skolas with non-maxed guns) such as raids etc And in crucible, light doesnt matter anyway So their not *totally* useless...
-
Raid weapons should be able to ascend. If they are going to lump in previous dlcs they need to make that content worth playing. Nobody will run vog and crota if the weapons are obsolete...the best weapons came from the raids.
-
And desticles oretend its a great idea pmsl. Reboot the grind dlc and they pay smiling haha
-
All because they can't make a bigger vault. These -blam!-in guys!
-
I bet you anything it isn't that cut and dry. There will undoubtedly be some way to preserve the essence of our old favorites, even if they do become outclassed. Crucible, if nothing else. Besides, it's just pixels and code. The real value of our weapons is what we did with them. You don't have to fire an antique weapon to appreciate its power or significance. But at least you'll still be able to break out your Fatebringer and pop some Dreg skulls for old times sake. September can't get here soon enough. My body is ready.

Always keep this in mind that gear never lasts, even exotics may not last. If you play WoW you know that all gear including legendary (exotics in WoW) only last until you hit the next max level, which is 40 in this case. Only things that never goes out of style are cosmetic items such as cloaks, marks, shaders and ships. But in reality there is no incentive to farm these because they are always there (except for faction vendor stuff since they get updated with new stuff). Running stuff now would have only been worth while if they said "x item will no longer drop in x raid when TTK is released". I do find it kinda dirty on Bungies behalf though that they remain silent on this when we're a month away from TTK. Only reason they do this is because their is nothing that keeps us addicted to the game besides loot. That's why they need to add more cosmetics to the game aside from faction stuff to keep us hooked. TL;DR: Gear and legendaries (exotics) always become useless. Bungie should give heads up if they're doing this at least 3 months in advance. Also need to add more vanity/cosmetic stuff aside from loot hunting.

Edited by RecknoKnight: 8/4/2015 7:43:02 PMI'm still keeping my Fatebringer no matter what, same with some armors n shit
-
Welcome to mmo expansions
-
Eh, fairbringer was still good at 300 when new stuff was 331. 365 can probably still be used until the next year 2 dlc, then they'll add in some new upgrade gear mechanic to grind for.
-
I think the overall lesson here is that people really shouldn't grind for things if they don't enjoy the grind. If you're playing a game that you only vaguely enjoy for a "carrot on a stick" reward system then maybe you should find a game that either rewards with a more permanent sense of accomplishment or one that you actually enjoy playing.

My Godness some people in this community are just the worst, are you really complaining about this. I like a lot of the weapons we have now but if o have to use/ rely on them any more I'll simply lose interest. Weapons are the most prominent thing you interact with in Destiny, if it doesn't change or be fresh enough throughout the game's life's cycle then what's the point really?
