So according to the latest news, you will not be able to upgrade legendary year one weapons/armor. All those dragon strikes for Hopscotch and guess what... there will be stronger ones out. Those fancy adept weapons from trials... pfft sit down, we got bigger and better ones coming. Oh wait, the mighty Fatebringer will be no more. Gotta love the direction this game is heading in. 10 years people this is the plan. Mean while, $1000 later, regrind again.
In case you people still want to call it a MMO *cough From Bungie-
Destiny is a first-person shooter video game developed by Bungie and published by Activision. Released on September 9, 2014, Destiny marked Bungie's first new franchise since the Halo series. Set in a "mythic science fiction"
I love it! The flames are rising in the forums now. So many similar topics all over the place. I might change my name to Firestarter. Keep up the good work. This stuff is gold, especially when bored at work. I need more entertainment. Not sure how long this topic will stay alive before it's nuked like a previous topic I created. I also appreciate the defenders justifying their hard earned time. Keep telling yourself it wasn't all for nothing.
Picture your favorite car... Do you buy the next model each year or do you hold onto it because you love it? Too expensive, no problem. Do you buy new ice cream every week or do you stick with what you love? You have your comforts and so do I.
Have a nice day!

Had fun with friends.. have all exotics.. so yeah it was worth it!
-
Uh no kid, raid weapons will stay relevant. They just haven't announced exactly how yet. Get your facts straight.
-
K so you wanna use gally BH and fatebringer the entire time you play? Hopscotch pilgrim will still be good in crucible where level advantages are not enabled so idk where yu got that from It might not be a MMO but id rather use new weapons in the next year then stick with the same loadout part of this game is weapons so using the same ones until the life of the game is over or you quit is gonna be boring
ALL THE FOLLOWING INFO COMES DIRECTLY FROM THIS MONTHS GAME INFORMER MAGAZINE. I chose the thing that I thought were the most interesting and wrote them here. If you want to read it yourself you can buy the issue for about 5$ on google play. Confirmed new ghost shells have perks. Pic of Saturn/Dreadnought: https://i.imgur.com/p20sgmD.png There is an Eris Morn quest which leads you to a new weapon type. Cerberus Vae III, and the two PS exclusive strikes will have a taken version: https://imgur.com/gallery/LyaraLP/new Gunsmith now has reputation which can be leveled up by testing out prototype weapons. At a certain rank with the gunsmith you can go to him on armsday and order certain legendary weapons for glimmer. Each class has a unique mission to retrieve the new subclass. New exotic pulse rifle called "No time to explain" it looks like the strangers rifle and precision shots return to your magazine. Another exotic auto-rifle shoots blasts of chain lightning. An exotic sniper that blinds with precision hits. Exotics now come with their exotic perk unlocked. There is an exotic weapon that you need to find the parts for all across the dreadnought. Another Exotic: Sleeper Simulant, it's a heavy weapon that's also a fusion rifle, basically it's a rail gun, also it looks super cool. It has it's own quest-line that involves finding golden age relics and returning them to banshee to return his memories on the gun. http://i0.wp.com/planetdestiny.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/sleep-stimulant-exotic.png?resize=618%2C427 You now pledge allegiance to a faction, but you don't have to wear a class-item. You can use materials to gain rep. There is now a shader machine which holds copies of every shader that you've acquired. Same for emblems. Map of Dreadnought: https://imgur.com/gallery/V1UjORb/new Titans get there subclass in a quest that involves a rogue mercenary clan of Titans called the Sunbreakers. First you go to venus to try to find them, the second mission in this quest involves going to mercury. In part of one of these missions, your super goes overdrive and instantly recharges. Hunters have a quest that involves finding a lone-wolf Hunter, and the warlock quest involves a ritual where Ikora Ray gives you the power of the storm. https://i.imgur.com/p7qJnLl.png New crucible game type; "zone control". In this kills don't give points, only objective play gives points. Opening arc of new story has 8 missions, After that the story goes more endgame and includes; strikes, missions, quests, patrol stuff, and the King's Fall raid.Crucible quests for solo/fireteam play. 8 new crucible maps: Crossroads, Sector 618, Ghost Ship, Bannerfall, Frontier, Exile, Momento, and Vertigo. https://imgur.com/gallery/XeYm2q5/new https://imgur.com/gallery/QFmL8iF/new There is a VoG mission called Unsealed Paradox, which shows the fate of Praedyth. Fallen saber strike on earth has a super-powered shank boss. The Shield Brothers strike on the Dreadnought has Two completely different strike bosses at the same time, on has a shield and mortar, the other melee smashes. The Sunless Cell strike focuses on Hive politics and the boss fight arena is pitch black/ dark. Echo Chamber strike on Venus requires certain raid like mechanics. THIS STUFF IS FROM PLANET DESTINY: The RNG algorithm has been re-tooled to be smarter, rewarding you more frequently with items you could use, and attempting to avoid giving you those you already have. “All of the original mission have been reorganized, contextualized, and placed within a larger quest framework. Even older subclasses…have dedicated quest lines that explain their use and place with the world.” Vanguard vendors have quests unlocked at certain points of progression. Holding L2 on the pause screen gives an instant glimpse at the energy types equipped on each weapon. New item and subclass visual icons have been redesigned for quick recognition at a glance.” Legendary marks replace “Crucible” and “Vanguard” marks. “Armor Materials” replace Hadronic Essence, Sapphire Wire, Plasteel Plating. You can change the displayed weapon in the Tower. Tiers (thresholds) for Intellect/Discipline/Strength that tell in seconds what your cooldown is, rather than a percentage that you have to find out. “The Cryptarch more reliably provides rewards that match the Engrams you give him.” “Equippable emotes are now available below your emblem selection.” “As an alternative to using or sharding your new high-powered Legendary weapons and armor, you can also improve an item you like by sacrificing another piece from the same gear slot.” Taken Captains: Solar shields, throw out slow moving balls of darkness that blind Guardians. Taken Knights: AoE Scorch attack that dissuades close combat. Taken Centurions: Possess deadly tracking shots that can aggressively seek around corners. Taken Wizards: Can summon “shadow thralls” for a zerg-like rush. Eliminate them fast or risk being overwhelmed. Taken Psions: Have the ability to multiply if they are not quickly dispatched. Taken Vandals: Deploy a Defender Titan-like Shield, that restores their health and is permeable to their fire alone. Taken Phalanxes: Have an impulse blast that applies a physics impetus, much like their notorious shields. Taken Thralls: Can teleport short distances to frustrate attempts to pick them off easily They're also going to streamline old content so that it's easier to understand and ties together better. For instance, "The Sword of Crota" mission will be given by Eris Morn from the jump to better tie into her role in Crota's End. The game is also going to expand faction lore and make bounties, even crucible bounties, have some narrative context (though I'm not certain how this will work out). They specifically mentioned expanding the roles and characterization of characters like Lord Shaxx.
I'm not sure about year one armor being obsolete. They said they are switching to a different leveling system where experience levels you up from 34 to 40. To me that means armor light will not matter anymore. Will new armor have higher armor stats or will that be tied to experience level as well? They were as clear on this as they have been with everything else before release...

My grind wad fun now its time to turn the page. I'm happy we are not bringing our year one legendary weapons and armor over. Looking forward to new weapons and armor i have no vault space lol. This is a great change.
-
Odd, pretty sure that grind involved getting you to the point where you could get involved in the taken king stuff right away instead of having to do it all over again. So the grind meant quite a great deal, and you are incorrect. As you are a mature person capable of realizing your mistakes and learning from them, I'm sure you will get over the shock of realizing you are wrong and deal with it. Given the strength of the initial enemies in this Taken War and the fight to destroy Oryx, that 365 fatebringer will come in really handy against those 34, 35, and 36 level enemies. Probably even handy against level 37 ones. By which time, it is hoped, we will have at least a few weapons that are 371 or better... also, that wikipeida entry opening is not by Bungie. That's two for two of you being wrong. tsk tsk.
-
Sucks to suck! Hahaaaaa rugrat
-
The grind ment nothing ? So you think it would have been a good idea to start the taken king at level 1. You think we shouldn't have done a thing this whole year because bungie are introducing new weapons and armor in to the game. You complain that the game is stale and yet complain that new things are coming. -blam!- off this forum.
-
It meant I Had fun. That is the whole point of gaming, is it not? It is Multiplayer and it is Online. No it is not massive but it is also on a console, not a PC. There are limitations to console online games. And I get new weapons and gear? Fu## ya! I'll just use my current weapons to acquire the newer, better gear. Go be negative somewhere else. Toxic you are. An attitude adjustment you need.
-
FUN IS THE REASON!
-
I think the problem is this whole game is one big experiment. Bungie doesn't seem to have any plans. It's definitely not a mmo or a shooter. I heard it called pokemon with guns and that pretty much sums it up. That also tells you why alot of people are mad about the change. I don't think bungie intended to build a pokemon but that's what they built
-
Its clear to me that most people complaining about year one weapons and gear never had a purple item replaced by a green in a new expansion 10 minutes into it.
-
I haven't finished this Destiny. I'll pass on the new one.
-
The vanilla the calling on my warlock...idc if it won't do anything, that gun shall stand the test of time
-
Oh really. Didn't know it was developed by bungie and published my activision. Thank you for that bit of information literally everyone on these boards knows about. You're a moron.
-
Don't tell me that MY grind meant nothing to me. I had a good time doing it and I already expected this to happen. Don't speak for me.
-
Lol. So your saying I won't be able to use hopscotch pilgrim in crucible. I won't be able to bring my fatebringer back to crotas end. Ur not excited for new guns.
-
It's okay guys. The weapons we know and love will still be there.....just with a new skin and different name lol
-
All mmo players be like: "yep been there done that" All non-mmo players be like: "omg wtf smh my Fatebringer no!!"
yeah destiny isn't an mmo. Just the concept of new gear out dating the old is a very old concept. You must be young
-
Ffs has no one making these posts ever played a game with expansions? It always happens get over it.
-
Edited by BunkerGATE13: 8/5/2015 3:34:41 AMMy strategy of not leveling or doing the raids or pvp pays off again! Thank you previous game knowledge. Waiting till year 5.. by then it might be worth it ..the way to win is to not play lol
-
Yeah, our grind definitely didn't mean anything. We might as well all delete our characters and boycott the game, right? Maybe the time spent meant nothing to you, but it meant something to me. I've chosen a few guns that I'll take with me to year 2, but as trophies. The entire point of the decision to not ascend year 1 weapons is pretty obvious. To adapt, broaden your horizons and actually use other guns. Did you really think you would take a shadow price or a vanquisher from the launch all through the 10 years? Because quite honestly, that would be boring. New weapons means new memories to come.
-
You will never take my guns never!
-
While I see the necessity in churning out a new batch of desirable weapons, My gripe with the way it's handled are: 1) I think it is rather artificial the way they force the old weapons to be obsolete. Why not let us ascend our old stuff but improve the new weapons by adding certain flexibility that the old weapons don't have, like a materia system (like final fantasy) that will make the new weapons more flexible? 2) and if they are gonna change the way we level up and give the Meta a complete facelift, why not do it for destiny 2, instead of jolting the year one players of the current game? Anyways, I am pretty certain I'll adapt to the new rules, but just question some of their design decision. 2)

New year, new weapons. Roll with it! I'm personally really excited about starting again with a new subclass and weapons
