After grinding out Etheric Light for "must have" armor to get to Light Level 34, and then "must have" weapons (selection of primary elemental damage, special with varying elemental damage and heavy), I only recently had enough Etheric Light to start upgrading some of the old favorites that have been languishing in the vault for a DLC or two.
First one I pulled out was my Zombie Apocalypse ... it was nice, and very fun to use in PvE, but seemed underwhelming compared to Jolder's Hammer, BTRD-345, or Thunder Lord, ah well.
Second one I upgraded was my old Super Pox VLO ... it took a little getting used to the longer engagement again, but its been a lot of fun (and felt very different than the usual suspects of Hand Cannon). I've been enjoying using it as opposed to "insert Exotic primary" for most of Iron Banner. Its brought back a lot of fun for me, and I'm looking through the vault to see what to upgrade next (I think it may be my Grim Citizen III, just for nostalgia value).
So my question for the community is this:
- What (if any) old weapons from the past, have you pulled out to use for Iron Banner, Prison of Elders, or Trials of Osiris? I'm asking about end-game type content where level makes a difference.
- Is there a primary/special/heavy that you'd hung on to and finally upgraded, and have been enjoying instead of running "insert exotic here"?
- Is there a weapon that you thought you'd like, but it just felt "meh" because it felt overshadowed by a newer weapon/perk set, or just didn't fit your play style anymore?
Edit: Just as a quick comment, yeah, I know most people that could upgraded the old Raid weapons (heck Fatebringer was the Poster Child for Etheric Light), but I'm really more curious about non-raid weapons.
