Sigh, people who say "get a job, movies cost more, etc" It's more simply the principle behind what they're doing, rather than not being able to afford it. The last two DLC Bungie has released, as well as the base game, is lacking in content that in no way justifies the price. And what drives them to put high prices on lacklustre content DLC? Preorder sales. The more preorders they receive, the more they get that "security net" around that DLC because we have already gave them our money. If everyone just waited until, at best, release day until they bought the DLC, rather than preorder, I can guarantee that the content would be of higher quality/more content in the DLC, due to them having to make content that is worthy of people's money. But that's just my opinion, just like everyone else has their own.
Sigh, people who say "get a job, movies cost come, etc" .
Why do you think people make these comparisons? Because they are showing how much they value certain things and comparing that to the value of a video game. These are very good comparisons and show why people come to be conclusion he $40 is really nothing for this expansion. If you don't agree, all the power to you. You won't get anywhere in here though. Your perspective is that it's not worth it. Mine is that it is worth it. You know what? We are both right. It's a perspective and they are both valid from one persons point of view. I don't think a Porsche is worth 100k but some of my friends do and they buy them. I think they're crazy, but that's only my perspective. Could I buy one? I'm lucky enough to have a good job and could afford one, but I don't think they are worth it so I'm not buying one. Speak with the only power you have, your wallet.

  • I understand that, but those comparisons shouldn't be made between two totally unrelated things. Instead, it should be related between two things that can be compared to each other: for example, one video game price vs another video game price, not video game price vs any other thing that cost money. That way, you can truly understand some peoples frustration when it comes to price and content. But like you said, opinions are opinions, and I respect everyone's opinions whether I agree or disagree with them. But who's to say that, due to people accepting high DLC prices, Bungie decides to make the next one $50, or $60? If people still continue to accept these ridiculous prices (basically paying for the base game), then inevitably other companies will follow suit, and I myself, don't want to see that happen to the gaming industry.

Video games have not increased in relation to inflation or cost of living in the last 20 years. It really is amazing they are as cheap as they. They really should cost $100-$120 for a base game. Manufacturing costs, marketing costs, labour, have all skyrocketed in costs in all sectors including software development. Yet, video games remain be same cost. Houses vehicles, pop, chocolate bars, clothing, food have all increased two or three times in cost over the same time period where video games have remained almost the same. I can't believe video game developers and publishers actually make any money. It's great they we so cheap but the reason publishers charge 10$ for three multiplayer maps or $40 for an expansion is because they need to recovery the costs of development. If companies like Bungie and Activision stop making money we won't have any video games at all the complain about!

  • Ofc they still make money. What changed since the 80's isn't just technology but mankind itself, we are more than 7 bilion. The number of consumers has increased dramaticaly. This means that they can make more money than before, because there are more pigeons eating crumbs (pigeons being us and crumbs the low price we pay for games these days)
