My reflections on what happened with the Bungie Bounty and an important message about how to deal with trolls and harassment and how we can change the world. Please watch this is for all of you! <3 thank you

Damn dey raw doe.

Who cares?

I played Halo 4 with girls and it was always fun. I feel bad for you, but keep up the grind we aren't all sexist pigs!

Whiny, entitled men are the reason that Dames might want to share a gaming environment of like minded female gamers. Got a problem with that? Too bad. They're entitled to have a group where they can worry less about antagonistic behavior towards them and focus instead on enjoying a game. If you want to build a gaming community that a female only clan isn't something that people feel they need, do your part to make the community better. Call out sexist behavior amongst your fellow gamers. Let them know that you're not interested in playing with someone that thinks that sort of behavior is acceptable. Because it's not. Be willing to leave a fireteam if it continues. You'll run that raid later. You don't need to support this, especially if you *do* care about equality in gaming.
-
Belle. You created this situation by making a women only clan. Exclusive groups based solely on gender. This can never be tolerated. I don't care if you are a woman. Just play with everybody. Block jerks. Have fun. Be yourself. There are many nice people who play this game from both genders.
-
Would everybody just shut up about this already? Seriously just move on everyone.
-
I feel this is appropriate.

I think you should let gay guys in. But hey I guess we don't need a safe haven
-
I suck
-
I like men

Some MLK tier stuff in that vid I don't support the sex exclusive group, but I understand, however grudgingly, and support, however against my core beliefs about segregation, the Dames of Destiny. What I would very much like to see, though, is acceptance of men who aren't sexist or immature and are just looking to play a game. A safehaven for girls to be paired with people that show respect, not a sex exclusive clan that looks sexist to everyone. You're absolutely spot on in your video though. From my 5 years moderating, developing, and going through and monitoring sexism on RSPS: Nice work

You know that male gamers are just as harsh to each other as they are to female gamers. I tell dudes to juggle my nuts and eat my a§§ with a silver spoon all the time. The only difference is nobody runs to defend a guy as to where all the beta white knights want to defend females because they are under the impression females can't handle it. So who's the sexist? Those who treat them as equals or those who think they are incapable to handle it themselves?

Trolls=fgts Who never will get a gf

Well said. The saddest part for me is the fact that some gamers need a place of sanctuary. Good luck guardian.
-
I think Bungie need to take some responsibility for this. This forum is not well moderated, they seem to promote this poor behaviour.
-
Everyone please shut the hell up about this, all you're doing now is adding fuel to the fire

The negativity is from children. Teens. Adolescent boys that haven't been laid enough. Why have the comments on? The stream is nice i guess. But why? Record it for re-air. Do it like Bungie used to do. Use the generic live accounts Bungie had back in the day for the bounties so they don't have to get the -blam!- pm's. I was in the stream. The crazy comments were like waves, you couldn't keep up. They were pointless. Disable them. I have been gaming for a long time. And the way these asshats act hasn't changed. Just their ability to be heard has been magnified. Turn down the volume. Ignore. Move on. Continuing to address this issue isn't going to make a bunch of teens suddenly realize the error of their ways and repent. Oh but lets make some more utoob videos to give these immature kids some more press. Since you have chosen to be a public figure, you need to realize along with that comes baggage. None of this is new. Stay positive and move on. But I guarantee you none of the offenders watched your video or give a shit how you feel. This is all a waste of time. And only time and age will help some of them to realize what they were doing is fkd up. They need to grow up and you need to realize your audience.

That vid was very positive, logical, intelligent and entirely wholesome ..... What is this doing on these forums. Did you miss the memo .... The destiny forums: your will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. All joking aside, good vid. Right on. Best wishes in the future.

Edited by Tempest: 8/6/2015 8:31:00 PMThat video just made me rethink a lot of things. Glad to see all of those trolls didn't get to yall. Keeping moving forward. I have absolutely no faith that the world can understand your views, but I do have faith the Destiny community can. As my clan leader, ms5ooowatts always says: stay positive!
To all of the closed minded people: call me a "white knight" all you want. I really don't care.
I listened to the video and mostly agree. I commend the decision to take the high road and "fighting back with kindness", just can't agree with it. If someone walks up to me at my bus stop, punches me in the face, and walks away. Then repeats that the next day, and the next, and the next. It won't stop by me smiling, saying "Thank you but I'm fighting back with kindness" and I'm not leaving. Hitler didn't stop by people smiling and saying we'll beat him with kindness. Sometimes there's a peace that can only be found on the other side of war. I'm not saying violence and hate, per se, but action - not kindness - nonetheless. Bungie and Activision, imo, should take the high road and identify these individuals and say "We'd rather lose your money in future purchases than have you poisoning this community. You are banned permanently." If these messages are sent via PSN or XBL software interface, they should ban them permanently for CoC violations. But smiling and saying we're not going anywhere won't solve anything. These attitudes... these people... are a cancer to this community. Where I work, I'm part of a team that does biopsies to locate cancer so that it can be removed. This cancer needs to be removed. Bungie and Activision has an opportunity to show the players that it cares more about the community than potential future earnings. They should identify and remove these people... this cancer... from the community permanently. Sorry if my opinion doesn't agree with the more noble sentiment, but cancer doesn't go away by smiling at it and treating it with kindess. Resection and removal... surgery... is needed.

Edited by TrueVanguard: 8/5/2015 7:27:13 PMWell stated, Belle. It's amazing what people will do behind the safety and anonymity of the internet. I also don't understand why people criticize the existence of an all females clan either. It's like they assume that the point of the thing is to be exclusive when the goal is quite the opposite. I know you don't play exclusively with females because there are a number of dames on my friends list that I play with regularly. And no one, that I recall, took an issue with the Dads of Destiny clan even though they're an exclusive clan of male fathers or soon to be fathers. These groups aren't about isolating yourselves, it's about generating community and friendships with like minded people. It's about finding something you have in common and generating a relationship through that. So sorry you had to undergo that kind of abuse, but props for shouldering it well. Wish you all the best down the road. Edit: To expand on some things, some of the comments really express a distaste for Dames being a ladies only group. Females interact with males daily, but they should also be able to have a place to be together as women because they are wired differently, think about things differently, they struggle with similar things and can provide support to each other, etc. We don't get mad when girls hang out together and don't invite any men. They're having a ladies' night. No big deal. Dames is that. It's a time and place for some friends to just be ladies together. How the actual frack is that a bad thing?
-
Can people just stop already I understand they are women but if this happened to men no one would say anything. Just let immature people be immature and get over it, it's the internet what do you expect.
-
bunch of attention in a area where it's not necessary, I'm an ass I didn't read your post or watch the video just think people hang on to little things instead of moving forward.. it's 2015 people cmon...
-
Freedom of Speech If you don't like what people call you maybe you should get off online gaming. You girls are so sensitive over a video game. Grow up or GTFO.

Hey Belle!
