The Taken King should be changed to The King of Taken your Money.
The DLC is overpriced at $40.
It is not worth $40...Activi$ion....as we ALL well know...is disgusting when it comes to scamming people.
Destiny is on its last leg with milking beyond belief since both Bungie and Activi$ion know that all the good games are coming out soon (SW Battlefront, Uncharted 4, Deus Ex, Doom, Fallout 4, Dishonored 2, Need for Speed 2015, etc.)
This https://youtu.be/Ll3uipTO-4A is the King of Taken your 💰's theme song.
Reduce the price at whats truly worth ($20) or you WILL lose sales Bungie and Activi$on........

Another kid that's parents won't let him buy it.
-
So if you don't buy the expansion and decide Destiny isn't for you... Will you leave the forums alone as well?
-
So everyone complains about the price of video games, what we pay now is a lot better than what it used to be. In the early 80s video games could cost 30 to 60 bucks. So let's go with 45. Adjusted for inflation 45 dollars is the equivalent of 107 dollars today. So even if you bought the vanilla game and 2 dlcs you have still paid less for a video than you would have in 1983. Additionally video games are now much more expensive to make. In the late 90s a video game could cost upwards of 1 million dollars (which adjusted for inflation is on 1.4 million). By 2010 video games were costing 20 million and upward. Look at gta v, it cost over 250 million to produce. Destiny had a half a billion dollar budget, granted that wasn't all for building the game. In conclusion we are paying less to play video games but companies are paying more to deliver these games to us.

Why don't we give them another chance? After all, it is their first "Large" expansion.
-
So you think the DLC is "overpriced" when you don't have a clue at what is inside it? Well done, another moron confirmed.........
-
Wow never seen a post like this before, so original. Just don't buy it and leave then.
-
Destiny is a bit like a drug (heroin, crack, whatever) that you draw the punters in then, once you have the addicts hooked, you can charge them what you like. Bungie presumably set the price based on demand. I doubt they are going to change that - they probably have done a lot of number crunching to determine a price that works. The content is fairly immaterial - it's just more crack.
-
My god. Some people will never be satisfied

Edited by JefferyLlama: 8/3/2015 2:21:06 PMTry living in the UK and having to pay $63 for the taken king stand alone, or you can get legendary edition(would mean me buying game and dlc i already own again) or fallout 4 for same price. The pricing is a joke, we already end up spending 40% more than any other country, even Ireland get it for $20 less than us. (I have no problem with the TTK, or the fact it will give hundreds of hours more gameplay, just feel UK is being penalised because of what seems to be 40 charged across the board in most countries ($40, £40, €40))

Average fast food meal cost. 6 dollars. Just don't go out 7 times and you have paid for this expansion. You're welcome.
-
Listen, a year ago I purchased destiny for £40 and I have played it on and off every night since day one. Divide £40 by 365 and the game has cost me just shy of 11 pence a day. The new expansion at £40 will hopefully give me another year of enjoyable gaming, again for 11 pence a day. Tell me something else that gives hundreds of hours of entertainment for mere pennies Round of golf - 4 hours - £40 Trip to cinema - 2 hours - £10 Season ticket to local football club - 30 hours - £500 It's just £40... Honestly, what's the big deal...

It's not that you shouldn't buy the taken king it's just you shouldn't preorder it, wait till the day it comes out. They will not run out of digital copies. They're trying to get everyone with all these little preorder bonus packages. I will buy it but won't give them the leverage with a preorder.

Edited by GodlyEspresso: 8/3/2015 12:47:12 PMJust because mom and dad said they won't buy it for you doesn't mean it's overpriced you dweeb. Have you even played the DLC? Have they revealed everything in the DLC too you? Simply put if you think its overpriced just don't get it and if Activison is so bad stop playing the game. Yeah that right guys I'm taking the bait.
-
Too late. I already preordered it.
-
You haven't even played it how can you say it's overpriced It's like saying "that cake is disgusting" without even tasting it
-
So long, and thanks for all the fish.
-
I don't think you understand this DLC has more guns than the base game, a new map (dreadnought) which can be explored, new crucible game modes and new subclasses. I bought the physical collectors edition
-
gotta get me some popcorn.
-
$40 is overpriced for dlc. It really should be $15 which is average for dlc imo.

Edited by Some Human: 8/3/2015 10:47:37 AMSigh, people who say "get a job, movies cost more, etc" It's more simply the principle behind what they're doing, rather than not being able to afford it. The last two DLC Bungie has released, as well as the base game, is lacking in content that in no way justifies the price. And what drives them to put high prices on lacklustre content DLC? Preorder sales. The more preorders they receive, the more they get that "security net" around that DLC because we have already gave them our money. If everyone just waited until, at best, release day until they bought the DLC, rather than preorder, I can guarantee that the content would be of higher quality/more content in the DLC, due to them having to make content that is worthy of people's money. But that's just my opinion, just like everyone else has their own.
-
You have never played it, you have no proof
-
I dont think bungie really needs to worry about those new releases. They are all gonna be great, possibly better than destiny, but they are all very different from it, and there for cant really replace it. For example, I love playing destiny with my friends, and I cant do that in fallout.

Edited by itsGhostMage: 8/3/2015 10:03:40 AMYou don't even know all that's in it. Please wait till more information is released and get educated (about all that's said about it) before you post again. Thanks. — AlexTheHollow, a concerned Guardian

The problem is not the pricing of the taken king, the problem is the pricing of previous dlcs. A standard was set. We overpaid then. Let me explain. The taken king clearly has more content than the recent wolves one (i cant even remember what its exactly called because its so lacklustre.) The taken king has more content than the dark below. (More memorable clearly). So how can they be priced the same? Clearly more development time and resources have been used thus demanding a higher cost. If the dlcs were 10 before, it would be 20 now. It is a matter of precedents my dear watson! How can you pay 20 for something with half the content and expect something with twice as much (or more, or less) content to cost the same? We overpaid before. Thus we must over pay now.
