If I were an employer right now, my only criteria for getting a job from me would be to write a 1000-word essay on a topic of their choice. I would only give jobs to those people who don't make mistakes like the one you just posted, nor to people who mix up "they're/ there/ their" and "too/ two/ to". In short, people who could pass a 3rd-grade English exam.
I suspect my company would go under, because I wouldn't be able to hire anyone.

Yeah you'd likely have a tough time finding candidates for employment. We can thank the American education system and Internet anonymity for that.

I cry a little, every time I see those sort of mistakes on a cover story of The New York Times, or some equally "prestigious" newspaper. *sigh*....

It's one of the main reasons I quit using facebook. That and all of the obviously bullshit stories backed by "studies" that people can't help but get worked up over and are gullible enough to believe without fact checking or even reading the studies themselves (lookin your way anti-vax/anti-GMO people).
