Isn't that crazy? ^
I've been arguing with this guy in #Destiny over sniper montages and YouTube being an actual job. The man makes sniping videos himself and tells me making YouTube vids is an actual job.

Seananners ftw
-
YouTube- Yes Livestreaming- No
-
If I hear another millennial on Xbox live tell me that he is a you tuber...ugh where is this world going.
-
Yup example: pewdiepie gets alot of views on his videos and he makes up to 5-7 million a year
-
Its an entertainment career. You provide content and get paid according to how popular your channel is (quite similar to standard television programmes) so yes, YouTube is a legitimate job.
-
It's a paying job, so yeah
-
Yes It takes time to get started and usually cost money to make and get money and over time you get raises I believe it's for every 1000 views
-
Yes Editing and producing good content consistently enough to retain views long enough to make steady money is hard.
-
I would say yes, I get paid around 4440$ per month with my channel (me and my brother have a channel about Rubik's cubes) i share the half with my brother and we buy games and stuff with it, the better part is that you don't have to leave home and you gain more than your parents
-
This is entertainment. Entertainers make money, why does this surprise you?

-
i think its a job they make their money and if they aren't breaking any laws how is it wrong. it seems to be working for them so how isn't it a job?
-
Yes. It provides entertainment. As long as your abiding by copyrights and don't abuse your "fame" then I see Youtubers as very good additions to our society's culture.
-
Edited by savage coco: 8/1/2015 7:23:19 PMIt depends. Those estimate sites aren't very accurate. Each YouTuber makes a different amount because they're not all partnered with the same group. It also depends on who they're sponsored with. They don't make as much as everyone thinks, people just try to pick a number, no YouTuber is allowed to say how much they make. It's in their contract
-
For some people, yes.
-
If not then im fuked lmao
-
You actually do get paid if you get a lot of likes or views or something like that........
-
If they're good enough, yeah.
-
It's considered being self employed. Of course you need to be popular enough for YouTube to make you enough money to support yourself

Edited by SGT Bronson: 8/2/2015 5:40:12 PMBeing a YouTuber isn't a job? Then please don't tell Google, they keep sending me money. -boogie2988

It is a job and it does have a good impact on society Even though pewdiepie might be annoying to a lot of people, cusses, and plays lots of things kids probably shouldn't be watching, he donates tons of money to charity
-
No more or less than any other form of entertainment business, though income works a bit differently.
-
It can be.
-
Seeing how they put a lot of time and effort into what they do, I'd say it's a job. Most (if not all of them) happen to love what they do though.
-
A job is getting paid for work so yes

Edited by Lance: 8/2/2015 4:57:48 PMAsk PewDiePie or any other popular YouTube channel, those guys are -blam!-ing loaded. If it's not a real job, you can call it a "hobby" that pays your bills, puts food on your table, and leaves you with extra spending money. But, you know, there are the people who really do only use it as a hobby. Cr1tikal(or however you spell that) just only recently started taking a percentage of his income from YouTube for himself because he fell on hard times. Prior to that, it all went to charity.
