I will say one word and I hope you will understand.
Marketing.

Or they wanted people to actually learn the new boss fights instead of burning through the boss and ignoring the mechanics.

The mechanics of bullet sponges. The bosses have insta kill close quarters attacks and easy kill long range attacks. The only thing bungie did with the nerf was make the bosses longer an more annoying. The only option with the bosses we have is to hide then pop out and DPS with nukes. I understand what you are saying and would agree if the bosses had more interesting mechanics. Right now the only bosses that are not bullet sponges and require though on how to beat them are raid bosses. The only two reasons for the nerf would be 1) marketing Or 2) they will be changing the bosses so that there are more viable ways besides nukes to beat them. I hope that the second option is the correct one but I think the more realistic option is the first.

From the PoE boss mechanics I would say bungie is learning how to make a interactive boss fight. So 2 isn't so unrealistic.

Edited by Dmerr: 7/31/2015 5:27:03 PMThey took a step in the right direction but the mechanics still force you into cover. The worm cult you have to be in cover when slowed so you do not get rekt then it is pop out for DPS when there is time. The same goes for urox and quodron. Skolas, the pilot servitor, and the cabal boss are all still bullet sponges except skolas is even more frustrating with mines. The other bosses in the level 28 are all in the same manner of bullet sponge and then DPS. Bungie improved in the fact of having us think about and try to stay alive during the ground burning and slowing effects. The biggest improvement I would say is with quodron, there is a way out of the detain but if you are smart and kill the vex for jail breaker it becomes easier. To take the final step into what I believe would be the final step into the sweet spot bungie will need to introduce some other ways of hurting bosses. Atheon is still in the billet sponge but times vengeance fixes that problem and with the relic mechanic along with the time gates I believe the fight is perfect. Crota, this fight I think shows someone at bungie knows how to makes bosses. You have to think and not run in blindly or one person dies and then a wipe could occur. I think the most innovative mechanic so far is the sword bearing. It is impossible for Crota to be a bullet sponge. I think we need more bosses like the raid bosses. They would need to be made so three people can take them on but that is the way to fix the bosses I think. And thank you for pointing out POE I totally forgot bungie was improving little by little.
