Dear Dames of Destiny,
While I do not normally watch the Destiny Bungie Bounty streams, it recently came to my attention through the My name is Byf video (which I have included in this post for anyone who happens to be curious), that your part in the Bungie Bounty was met with almost constant sexist and discriminatory remarks. Normally, I don't make threads of my own, only reserving that sort of thing for what I consider important, and this is the third thread I've made on the Bungie forums, period.
As such, I feel a few things need to be said.
First, to the Destiny Community:
It comes as no surprise to me that there is still a hateful attitude towards women in gaming, but what did come as a shock was the fact that people were willing to show that hate and discrimination so publicly, without any apparent shame for it. I realize that the Internet and Online Gaming, in and of themselves, promote anonymity, and in turn that gives people the power to say whatever it is they wish. That power is often coupled with complete irresponsibility and total unaccountability.
That is no excuse, and is unacceptable.
The fact that I have to type this in the first place disappoints and sickens me, but I suppose it has to be reiterated: In a video game, the gender of the player does not matter. It should never matter. Neither should race or place of birth. Discrimination as a whole is wrong, and should never be promoted. As such, anyone who sees what happened to the Dames of Destiny, and approves? You are not a part of my Destiny Community, and I want nothing to do with you. If I seem like I'm parroting Byf's video and the points he happens to be making, it's simply because the point deserves to be hammered home.
Second, to the Dames of Destiny themselves:
For those of you who read this, and I sincerely hope you do, I want to say on behalf of my part of the Destiny Community that I am truly sorry that you had to see, experience, and have to endure that kind of utter bullshit. And I am sorry that over the past decade, it hasn't seemed to have gotten noticeably better.
I hope that from this point forward, you have to deal with less and less discriminating assholes while you play online, regardless of whether or not it happens to be Destiny. And I hope that, despite everything that happened during the Bungie Bounty stream, it does not deter you from staying strong as a part of this community.
Sincerely,
Texas Joker 52, esq.

Why are you apologizing if you've taken no action in what happened?
-
Respect for doing this but I mean, where are you on these toxic forums EVERY other day when men are being slated left right and center for using different weapons, for being a different race, for being under 13 years old, for being bad in crucible, for being new to raids, for being a level 34 without VoG completion. Anonymity does not grant me the power to say this, I'd say it to your face. You're defending only women, the only conclusion is BECAUSE they're women. That in itself is wrong, you want to stand up to injustice? Then stand against it all, not just where women are involved.

I just want to add i didnt watch your stupid stream that every white knight such as op is talking about but can i add stfu, the only ppl who care only say they do cause they thirsty as fuk. Stop begging for evag man and go meet a girl in real life
-
Agreed!

Agreed! Bump!!

It's a shame that so called gentlemens and well mannered boys have to show their true identity as a sexist or as a brat on things like these where their real life identity is safe. Even though some people here say that you have to expect these vulgar things in chat, in no way it should be accepted or influence your experience during such a fun event, in which they are the viewers that unfortunately are given a voice to. It's unfortunate that the event wasn't a succes with multiple connection problems and have such childish talk add up to it to what was supposed to be a fun event. I have no doubt that there were civilized people in chat who enjoyed it and appreciated your effort in making this stream work and enjoyed the fun and. Exciting moments during your gameplay and will look forward to your next stream. As Deej says "pardon our dust", I am sure that those who were respectfull would like to say "pardon our filth".
-
Sincere but pointless in these forums.
-
I still dont get it. I have met bad male players and bad female players. Why all the hate?
-
-
Agreed! People should work on their emotional maturity
-
In complete agreement, signed.
-
Yay...apology. Just let it die. I think that the last decade or so is going to be in future history books as the age of the apology.....I mean it seems like that's all anyone who feels slighted wants.....the oh so powerful humbling apology, regardless of it's sincerity.
-
How the hell did they not see this coming?
-
publicy stunt
-
Absolutely agree 100%.

Bravo and well said! Bump!

Edited by Wickedstrife: 7/31/2015 7:47:33 AMLet me say that I saw a video describing what happened, and I think threatening anyone especially r@pe is wrong and completely stupid. There is no excuse for it and those people are a disgrace to humanity. There names should be posted so they can be ostracized and told how they are garbage. The rest is just dumb talk suck my balls and girls shouldn't play games are a couple things that, while stupid, aren't really hurtful or upsetting. Would those girls all just cry and quit gaming because some moron said they shouldn't be there?

White Knight 3: BRILLIANT!! The Dames will have to acknowledge us then!! White Knight Number 1: It's full proof, gentlemen, we are getting laid. *Council in unison* LET EM HAVE IT BOYS ITS TIME TO PUT AWAY THE LOTION AND THE FLESHLIGHTS! OUR TIME HAS COME!!!!!!!!
Edited by Chief Ghost6497: 7/31/2015 6:30:58 AMIve no idea what happened. But do agree with alot you say about the attitude of people etc.
-
Anyone should be treated with respect regardless of their sex if they deserve it. In my opinion the only people who don't deserve respect are the people who cause the hate in the first place and these are people who should, inevitably, be banned. Who wants to game or have anything to do with people who are so full of poison!
-
Man I totally agree I don't see female streamers getting hate comments like that females should actually be treated for more respect in my opinion
-
And here we have the problem that is indicative of our society these days, blaming the whole for the actions of a few. You'll find that most if us aren't like that so don't brand everyone with the same condemnation. You're worse than those you decry.

Edited by Redlinesi10: 7/31/2015 5:32:53 AMFirst off Stop using words you don't understand, primarily sexist, sexism. You sound like republicans using the word socialist. Telling someone to suck your balls isn't discrimination, it's being an asshole. Don't ask to not be discriminated against when you create discriminatory clans. Being threatened is an entirely different conversation though.
Wtf was bungie thinking, how did they expect this to go in a sea of virgins
