Dear Dames of Destiny,
While I do not normally watch the Destiny Bungie Bounty streams, it recently came to my attention through the My name is Byf video (which I have included in this post for anyone who happens to be curious), that your part in the Bungie Bounty was met with almost constant sexist and discriminatory remarks. Normally, I don't make threads of my own, only reserving that sort of thing for what I consider important, and this is the third thread I've made on the Bungie forums, period.
As such, I feel a few things need to be said.
First, to the Destiny Community:
It comes as no surprise to me that there is still a hateful attitude towards women in gaming, but what did come as a shock was the fact that people were willing to show that hate and discrimination so publicly, without any apparent shame for it. I realize that the Internet and Online Gaming, in and of themselves, promote anonymity, and in turn that gives people the power to say whatever it is they wish. That power is often coupled with complete irresponsibility and total unaccountability.
That is no excuse, and is unacceptable.
The fact that I have to type this in the first place disappoints and sickens me, but I suppose it has to be reiterated: In a video game, the gender of the player does not matter. It should never matter. Neither should race or place of birth. Discrimination as a whole is wrong, and should never be promoted. As such, anyone who sees what happened to the Dames of Destiny, and approves? You are not a part of my Destiny Community, and I want nothing to do with you. If I seem like I'm parroting Byf's video and the points he happens to be making, it's simply because the point deserves to be hammered home.
Second, to the Dames of Destiny themselves:
For those of you who read this, and I sincerely hope you do, I want to say on behalf of my part of the Destiny Community that I am truly sorry that you had to see, experience, and have to endure that kind of utter bullshit. And I am sorry that over the past decade, it hasn't seemed to have gotten noticeably better.
I hope that from this point forward, you have to deal with less and less discriminating assholes while you play online, regardless of whether or not it happens to be Destiny. And I hope that, despite everything that happened during the Bungie Bounty stream, it does not deter you from staying strong as a part of this community.
Sincerely,
Texas Joker 52, esq.

Why is everyone bashing this guy? I respect him for posting this.
-
Is there really a point to this? This is just giving the pigs what they want. You, But, everyone needs to stop and ignore it. Its the best thing we can do at this point.

This thread is now changed to Weekend Recipes Gordon Ramsay Roast Chicken Ingredients: 1 large free-range chicken, about 2kg 1 lemon Olive oil, for drizzling 1 heaped tsp paprika (sweet or smoked, as preferred) 400ml white wine FOR THE CHORIZO STUFFING Olive oil, for frying 150–200g chorizo, skinned and cubed 1 onion, peeled and finely chopped 2 garlic cloves, peeled and finely sliced Bunch of thyme sprigs 2 × 400g tins cannellini beans, drained and rinsed 200g semi-dried/sunblush tomatoes in oil Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper Instructions: Preheat the oven to 180°C/Gas First make the stuffing. Heat a little olive oil in a large frying pan, add the chorizo and fry for about 3 minutes until turning golden. Add the onion and cook for a minute or two until softened, then add the garlic. Cook for a further couple of minutes before adding the leaves from 3 thyme sprigs. Stir in the cannellini beans, seasoning well. Cook for a minute or two to warm through. Add the tomatoes and a couple of tablespoons of the oil they are stored in. Stir to combine, then remove from the heat. Now prepare the chicken. Season the cavity with salt and pepper, then fill with the chorizo stuffing and place a whole lemon at the cavity opening, tucking any excess skin over it. Drizzle the chicken with olive oil, sprinkle over the paprika and season with salt and pepper. Rub into the chicken skin. Pour the wine and about 200ml of water into a roasting tray and season. Add the chicken and the remaining sprigs of thyme, then cover with foil and roast for 1 hour in the preheated oven. After 1 hour, remove the foil from the chicken, baste with the roasting juices and turn the oven up to 200°C/Gas 6. Roast for another 25–30 minutes until the skin is golden brown and the juices from the thigh run clear. Remove from the oven and rest for 15 minutes before serving. Remove the lemon from the chicken cavity, and squeeze the juice into the pan juices. Whisk together to create a light gravy – if you prefer a thicker gravy, reduce over a high heat. Notes HOW TO KEEP CHICKEN MOIST WHILE ROASTING Roasting chicken under a tent of foil with stock and water is a lovely way to keep it moist during the first part of cooking. Once it has steamed for an hour, you simply remove the foil for the final 30 minutes to brown the breasts. The resulting chicken will be much plumper and fuller than if you had roasted it all the way.
The way it happened according to this community Guy insulted every female that plays destiny, whipped his junk and slapped it across their heads yelling yippeekaiay mother -blam!-ers. This mentally broke them and now quivering wrecks too scared to look at banana so they hide in their bedrooms waiting for a white knight to call for a ban on the forums, because that's how guys get chicks What actually happened Guy tells deej to suck his balls. The forum community, seeing a great opportunity to get laid, blindly go on the defensive of these poor defenceless women they assume this guy insulted. The women however are like "hey girl, so tony finished too quick last night if you know what I mean"
Don't think is is discrimination as much as it is just children being children.
-
So your defense of sexism is to make a post apologizing to the poor, defenseless women on the Internet? They need you to protect them from what exactly? Do you spend time apologizing to male players that get "cyber bullied", or is it just females that need you to stand up for them? I guess in the end I should just be glad these sad-sack women of Destiny have such a brave, chivalrous guy to stick up for them. Otherwise, they may just have to sit there staring at the TV and sobbing uncontrollably, b/c they're so weak and feeble.
-
Also why is cyberbullying even a thing? In recent years it seems like cyberbullying is reported on more than actual bullying. How are randoms on the internet calling you a fgt or threatening -blam!- worse than people who do that face to face with people? "Cyberbullying" should not even be called bullying in anyway. It undermines those who face real life bullying.
-
Holy brown nose batman!?

If you're an adult and can't deal with the inevitable trash talk of online gaming, you have bigger problems. Grow up.
-
Oh you're an apologist eh? Know what I hate more than sexist(aka Dames of Destiny)? People who apologise on behalf of other people.
-
If anyone gets offended on what's said on the internet especially on a video game u need help
-
Edited by TheFatKiwi: 7/31/2015 8:46:17 PMThis post gave me aids. Not even joking. You basically ràpèd me with you're retarded white knightishness.
-
What are YOU sorry for? Did YOU do something "sexist"? Why do you think you can apologize on behalf of other people? You're really such a narcissist that you just assume other people want you speaking on their behalf? And of all the people on the planet, why would you apologize to the sexists in the Dames? They're openly discriminating against an entire gender. "In a video game, the gender of the player does not matter." It sure as f*** matters to them when they're recruiting manhaters for their little hugbox. Quit your white knighting - it's not going to get you any.

Edited by Destroyer29992: 8/1/2015 1:38:13 PMJust stop, everyone gets shit on the Internet for being black, disabled etc. these Dames of destiny just need to grow up.
-
I find it hilarious that you even attempt to make these posts. This entire society is so watered down with the cry baby bull shit it's unbelievable. Let women stick up for themselves, let them make their own history without your condescending apologies trying to support their drive to a paradigm shift. You aren't shit, and you sure as hell don't have the right to make any apologies on the behalf of anyone. Women gamers want to empower themselves and show what they got, what they have to offer, and instead of letting them take the heat to survive the kitchen, you try to fluff up the place to make it more welcome. I've been called the worst names in the book, I've been told I'm horrible, etc etc. I sure as hell didn't need you sending me apologies for those who do that. And just to let you know, the struggle for equality is a battle that every race, every gender, every human has to endure on this planet. Your idea of making that process politically correct to perfection will ruin that entire process. When it comes to generalizations, equality is earned, not given.

Edited by jonathanpride: 8/1/2015 1:37:35 PMWhite Knight uses thirsty. It's super effective.

The Dames obviously didn't care, so why should we? Everyone gets messages like that but I don't see posts apologizing to them. In everyone's efforts to stop sexism, they've inadvertently caused it.

Edited by OuO_Whats_This: 8/1/2015 1:47:35 PM*White Knights Of The Round Table gather* White Knight Number 1: THIS IS OUR CHANCE White Knight Number 2: Agreed, let us turn something that has nothing to do with sexism into something sexist. White Knight 3: BRILLIANT!! The Dames will have to acknowledge us then!! White Knight Number 1: It's fool proof, gentlemen, we are getting laid. *Council in unison* LET EM HAVE IT BOYS ITS TIME TO PUT AWAY THE LOTION AND THE FLESHLIGHTS! OUR TIME HAS COME!!!!!!!!
(☞ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)☞
I agree that this shouldn't happen but they kinda shot them self in the foot by making a clan where only women were allowed to join which in its self is a bit sexist so yes the behaviour was unacceptable but also the dames don't really have any way to stop it because they started it themselves
-
So you didn't say deej?
-
Edited by SortaSteve: 7/31/2015 8:58:53 AMAnd that's why you don't play Xbox. Little boys playing things their parents bought, being offense for no reason. #sqeekerbox

Im not saying that the things that have been said in the stream and all were right (they are not) but nobody needs a white knight. I get threats and hate message a lot but do i look like i would need a white knight to protect me? No and neither do the dames of destiny or anybody else who plays this game. White knights (aka the guys that are to nice) are just boring for women and annoying for other men. The next time xur is around you should hope that he sells some balls so you can have some too.

I'm a girl, and although it's not right to threaten people and so on (regardless of gender) its still just a video game. Everyone threatens everyone and says things they shouldn't. Not a day goes by where I don't say I "-blam!- someone" in crucible or tell someone to suck my non-existent dick. I'm not saying it's okay to threaten people and name-call, I'm just saying the Dames of Destiny should not be treated special just because they're female. The real problem in video games is when a little kid somehow joins your party or is able to hear/speak with you and instead of muting or kicking if you don't want them there people threaten them and use bad language. You should know better, kids are kids, just mute/kick/or deal with it.
