Hear me out a moment--
As a parent of young kids who've asked when they'll be allowed to play this game I'm horrified not by the game content but by the way so many act both on the forums here and in the team chat.
I can understand why so many don't play with mics. It's for their protection.
EDIT: Thanks to all for pointing out the online content is not rated. It wasn't overlooked. I just feel that this game's online content is a critical part of the overall experience. And MOST IMPORTANTLY --- You CANNOT play the game without an online connection. If it's a requirement then they shouldn't be able to exploit a loophole in the rating system.
-
Online interactions may not be rated, but it's more of a common sense thing. Parents just need to know what their kids are playing.
-
Destiny is rated teen for the content of the game. No one can accurately rate online gameplay or chats because some are good and others are dickholes.
-
It's rated teen for a reason...if your a teenager you should of had a parent teach you by this age not to be a pussy
-
that is why I chat only with people I know
-
I find it irritating when squeakers start cussing all of a sudden for absolutely no reason, it's just toxic behavior. There should really be a mute all option
-
Online interactions not rated by esrb If so every game with multiplayer would be M or worse
-
Morals? Please.
-
This is where parenting comes in. You know you don't want your kids exposed to chat or the forums, so you don't allow your kids to use those. Doesn't mean that every game with online chat should be rated M regardless of the game's content.
-
I let my kid play. I just changed his settings so he cant talk or receive mail from anyone.
-
Have you ever read the sign that says, "Online interactions not rated by the ESRB"?
-
Online experiences are not rated... They cant
-
Edited by Smash House Breck: 7/30/2015 6:51:23 PMThe game itself has nothing that would make it m rated. The online interactions however, are not rated. Have them not play with people who talk or behave offensively. This is what my parents did with me when I was a child. The other option is to just have the chat voices muted.
-
I don't play with a mic and I get along fine, you could just tell them not to talk to anyone?
-
You're never going to stop the scum of online gaming. They've been there since the beginning. Anonymity brings out the dregs of society. Best option is to just not let them use a microphone. Only way to stop it.
-
Changing the rating wouldn't do anything though. There would still be plenty of kids and plenty of potty mouths. Just look at minecraft.
-
The online section is never rated, get a grip, the Internet is the real world
-
The esrb only rates what developers put into the game, anything online no one has control over, if your upset and I get where you're coming from, make it so the kid cannot use the chat feature and you should be set
-
Perfect example of why children shouldn't play online games... KirmitTHEfrog Parents nowadays are perfectly content w letting the Xbox or playstation babysit kids now.
-
Online interactions not rated by the ESRB
-
Hey man, the best you can do is put the system in a family room, don't let them use headphones so you can hear what's being said. But really? That's a little over protective man, while you're at it don't ever let them watch YouTube, any whack job can make a vid about anything. You've got a long ride if you're worried about a few dirty words in destiny that they are more than likely going to pick up on in many other places.
-
Don't let you kids go on the forum or team chat. As easy as that.
-
I wish they would've gone for an M rated game and made the content more for adults. Like some Devil May Cry type stuff.

Edited by Hopeinmo: 7/30/2015 5:52:02 PMUhm... No game I know of recieves an M rating for online content... ahem!
Online interactions not rated by the ESRB
Internet needs an M rating period XD I am only irritated that there is no Mute all ingame chat, option, there is one that appears should do this, but it does not...

Edited by Jax 2: 7/30/2015 5:59:42 PM
Online interactions not rated by the ESRB
Read the game case
-
Edited by TomandJerry4872: 7/30/2015 6:11:08 PMOnline features aren't rated. True for all games, not just this one. If every game was rated by online content, squeakers would never play. Wait... RATE THE GAME M PLEASE DO SO NOW
-
It should be rated T and should stay that way. If they put in a better game chat, sure, make it M I'm 100% with you I wouldn't want my kids listening to trash talkers either. But as of now it's fine the way it is since game chat doesn't work the way it was supposed to.
