I saw a video about this a while back and want to know your thoughts/opinions.
If Bungie wants to actually have campaigns in the games and develop the story more in upcoming games, I think a prequel could put things into perspective. On the other hand, not everything needs to be explained in detail, this is where the grimoire could have come in quite useful, as historic documents sort of.
It's quite important that certain things are explained properly in game, especially The Traveller and The Speaker...the game has become so much about the grind (not complaining about it) and all other aspects, the majority of us have even forgotten that the Traveller exists and that it is supposed to be a focal point in the story.
Edit: Thanks for the feedback guys. A prequel would indeed be out of place but we need a proper story structure.

Yes. So much yes.
-
Maybe a trilogy with a prequel
-
Don't think it would work for a full game but might be kinda cool to have a couple of levels that you pass through a time portal to go back in time to complete a task. Maybe? might be kinda cheesy though depending on how it was worked into the game.
-
Also the in Gane story isn't that good. The grimoire Is were the true story lies.
-
No, i feel like a flashback would be cool but not an entire game based off of it..
-
-
The only way this could work is if our Guardians go back in time somehow. Perhaps with help from the traveller or due to the vex.
-
It would be cool to experience battle at twilight gap. Or Moon invasion. Or experience golden age technology.
-
Posted the same thing awhile back
-
it would be cool to have a prequel but since your characters and stuff will most likely carry over, it wouldn't make sense. ie have vex mythoclast in b4 doing vog
-
I think some short cgi/cartoon/anime type things would be a good way to develop the story. Kinda like what "the matrix" did before releasing the sequels (wasnt a fan of them, just pointing out i like how we got some story out of the them)

Destiny's future: " hey remember that game destiny"
-
Edited by TheArtist: 7/29/2015 3:48:02 PMNo. This is a story being told from first person perspective. Prequels don't work, unless you start allowing time travel.
-
Destiny four should be a prequel

This will not happen due to the fact that Bungie have explicitly said that characters will carry over between games. The only way that would make sense is with time travel
-
Or a super prequel dlc
-
I don't want any of the main games to be prequels, but maybe further down the line they could do something like Reach.
-
The only way A prequel would be kind of cool is if we somehow use the vex to travel back in time
-
Maybe in 8 years time, we're level 200 or something like that and we have just come to the conclusion. We can't beat the darkness because it has become too powerful. So we time travel back to when the darkness first attacked, stop it and change the whole course of history the end.
-
Won't happen. "Your guardian will carry-over" However, it can be possible if time-travel is used correctly.
-
A prequel? No. The game centers around our guardian so how would a prequel work when we'd be dead? No, move forward.
-
A prequel would ruin the point of your current 'character progression' (if you want to call it that). It should be explained and more, but we're already in the Destiny universe and time doesn't run backward...unless yknow, Atheon or the Vex play a part. Even that sounds a lil bit cheesy though.
-
We would be able to go play the events we hear about without calling it a prequel with time travel shenanigans. Have us play in two time lines similar to assassin's creed
-
I don't want a prequel I would like flashbacks. For a mission we are Saint-14 crushing in the skull of the Devil Kell Cayde-6 at the battle of Twilight Gap Eris as her fireteam is wiped out. I think Destiny did a horrible job at giving us the sense of urgency that the Darkness is collapsing on our last stronghold. If we truly our humanity's last hope we should feel the peril in our quest, not just opening doors and shooting sponges.

I think I'd rather have a dlc where you explore the old legends, but still as yourself. For example: Tolland. You are sent to find out what happened to him. You follow clues in his writings to go to places he's been, eventually finding out what happened to him or if he's still alive.
