Petition to remove Damage/Defence Upgrades on Pre-HoW Legendaries and Exotics

After HoW was released, I loved how Bungie was handling Legendaries and Exotics. No annoying Defense and Damage nodes, which meant less grinding. And now, The Taken King will continue this trend. But one thing that is annoying me is the status of Pre-HoW Legendaries and Exotics. We still have to face the grind, and spend more resources upgrading them. I'm requesting a few changes to this. 1: All Legendaries and Exotics released BEFORE the HoW will have damage and defense nodes removed. 2: The final upgrade for ALL VoG Gear will require Ascendant Materials(7). (To keep them relevant) 3: The final upgrade for ALL Crota's End Gear will require Radiant Materials(7). (Again, to keep them relevant) 4: The Exotic Perk for ALL Exotic Items will require an Exotic Shard, except Necrochasm, which will require a Crux of Crota. (Same reason as above) 5 (OPTIONAL): The final upgrade for ALL Prison of Elder and Trials of Osiris Gear will require 1 Etheric Light. (So they have a bigger importance on End-Game Gear). 6 (OPTIONAL): The Runed Core from Eris will now unlock Murmur's ability to switch element type. NOTE 1: THIS WILL NOT REMOVE ASCENSION OF PRE-HOW ITEMS. You will still need an Etheric upgrade to bring Pre-HoW items up to the new damage and Light Level. NOTE 2: 'ALL Exotics' include ones released with the HoW, and onward. NOTE 3: Materials needed will still work how they do now. 7 Energy for a weapon upgrade, 7 Shards for an armor upgrade. I just think this will make the Pre-HoW items less annoying to level, and keep them on-par with current items. So what do you guys think? Make sure to leave your opinions below so I can see them.

  • Honestly, and this is coming from a day 1/beta player, I think they made a mistake removing damage/defense upgrades. I also think they should not have put upgrade materials in the quarter master. While at the time I hated the grind of having to level up gear and THEN go out and collect gear for upgrades, in retrospect, it made my time in non-strike/raid activities more rewarding because if I saw a helium rods patch, I'd be sure to run and pick it up. Now if I see them in the world, I don't even care to go get them. Why? because I always have the marks to purchase upgrade materials in plentiful quantities. I know some people hated the grind to unlock weapon perks and then gather upgrade materials to upgrade them, but from this gamer's perspective, it was a part of what made the beginning days of Destiny fun. When we couldn't raid, we went out and did bounties to level up gear, and when we ran out of bounties, we went to kill stuff randomly in patrols and gather upgrade materials, and occasionally do events. Sure it was somewhat repetitive and got old sometimes, but so is the strike playlist. I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I do miss those days and I wish they'd bring them back.
