Could one interrupt a conversation if it is there turn to talk, no matter what it is they choose to speak about? Was I not trying to relate back to my question, realizing I had not effectively voiced this thought in my last replies?

Shouldn't they still acknowledge the last persons comment?

Wouldn't that be polite, which does not really apply to everyone?

But can you really consider it a conversation if the other person is not acknowledged? Is "Do you have anything to eat?" Really an appropriate response to "How's it going?" ? Would that really be continuing the conversation, or just starting a new one?

Doesn't it depend on what your definition of a conversation is? If someone believes a conversation is when two people discuss for a finite amount of time, would it really be starting a new conversation or creating a new path for the current conversation to take?
