This is a quick study that was performed to shed light on how often guardians will attempt to join a fire team while trying to hide the fact they don't meet certain requirements set forth by the group that is looking to add a member.
Before I go into the details on why this study was performed, and the parameters that were used, I want to mention a few things. Some people are going to get mad about what I have done. Plenty of people already got mad while I was doing the study when I pointed out they did not meet the requirements that I had set in the original forum posts. Let me say this right now. Trials is a very team and strategy based game. A player with a light level of 33, with a gun level of 331 and a KDR of 1 can perform well in Trials if they can work well with their team. I admit this, and I think it is common knowledge. However lvl and KDR still play a huge role, especially when you are looking to add a teammate that you have never played with before.
Now this study came about when me and my friend were looking to add a third to our fireteam. We both have a 1.2+ KDR on our main characters. This is about an average to above average KDR in PVP. We wanted to add someone who matched our skill and had at least a 1.2 KDR. We spent about an hour weeding through requests to join, checking where their KDR's were at. Through about 30 people, we found only 2 that matched our one requirement.
This made me curious. On average, how many people will attempt to join a fire team when they do not meet the requirements set forth by the creator of the post.
The variables for the study are as follows. Posts were created in both PS4 and XBox 1 sections. The only requirement to join was that the person must have a 1.2 KDR at minimum.
Here are the findings.
40 people requested to be added to the fire team. 4 people actually met the 1.2 KDR requirement that was set forth in the original posts.
This means, on average, only 10% of the people you are looking to add in Trials of Osiris will meet a set KDR requirement, while 90% will knowingly try to join your fire team even though they are not meeting your minimum requirements.
Variables
This is a limited study. A more accurate measurement could have been taken if there were more reply's to postings. Also the percentage of honest vs dishonest posts may be some what linked to set requirements. If lower requirements are set, there is a good chance that you will find more honest postings to a certain point. The higher requirements you set the less likely you are to find honest postings. Future studys will need to be done in order to show whether or not this is the case.
Final Results: 90% of Posters for ToO Fireteams will not meet a set KDR and will attempt to join you anyway.

100% of statistics are dumb.
-
100% of people with k/d requirements are douchebags......I did a study
-
This is pretty true. I think people that post for KDs higher than theirs are scrubs, but if you require a KD at your own level or below that is fine. Sometimes when I look for randoms (not often) I'll ask for people to just have a KD of 1.0+ so I know they can shoot straight and actually play crucible. What happens is you end up getting spammed by a bunch of players around 0.6 KD who want to be carried. I've also had people messaging me saying they have 1.9 KD and then you check and they are like 0.8 Some play to be competitive and some play to have fun casually. Find the right group for you and don't lie.
-
All this to play a game. Crazy. -blam!- that. Anyone wanting to try is welcome to join, if we fail so be it. Find someone else, try again.
-
This happens to me all the time when I ask for a 1.5 kd player with a solid 60% win loss or higher
-
That's interesting. I guess they hope that you won't notice and will provide them with a carry.
-
I read some where that the average KD in destiny is around the .6 mark
-
Studies show that if you have good friends and plays trials for fun, you'll have fun playing trials without visiting LFG and worrying about people's K/D.
-
LFG teams are super easy to beat. Keep em coming so my team can 5-0 you again.
-
And this is why I don't use LFG for anything pvp related.

Edited by Apex of War: 7/28/2015 12:25:43 PMI run Trials primarily with a select few friends. When only 1 friend is available, I turn to #Recruitment. How do I weed out those that don't meet our requirements? Easy. I make a post that tailors to entice the higher skilled players to come out of the wood work. Sure, under qualified applicants apply, but I always have someone who meets my requirement message me (1.5kdr+ with Flawless experience). Example: LF 1 to join me (1.6kdr) and my buddy, EnterFriendsGamertagHere (1.9kdr), for a 9-0 run. Must have 1.5+ kdr, mic, and Flawless experience. Because I point out my friend's kdr as well as my own, qualified players see us as a team they can rely on to go flawless. I have yet to NOT go flawless picking out a 3rd player from #Recruitment. And by doing this, I make new friends that I feel comfortable running Trials with in the future.
-
Does KD really matter all that much? I've been flawless every week with my two brothers and my trials and crucible KD are not very great. I never take crucible seriously lol.
-
Well I didn't go flawless and some1 posted for some1 who went flawless bfore. As you ca see, I have the emblem now. Also, check my kdr it's pretty decent on all cept my titan cuz all I do is shoulder charge :)
-
I'm wondering where all these players just from forums or did you pull from other sites to?
-
Lol those people that ask for 2.0 + kdr usually suck. I usually always play with my brother and we always go flawless. This is what I post when looking for another player. Need one more good player for trials with a mic add boodah919. Idgaf what your kd is, as long as you communicate and have maxed weps you should be fine
-
Another fun observation, in the cases where I confronted people about their KDR, for some reason people on the Xbox threads seems more hostile. I;m sure this was more of a coincidence though.
-
I agree that most of the time the set requirments will not be met, i have no data its just a gut feeling from having played the game for awhile. However you used the word 'Knowingly'. And that is were i have a slight issue with this test, since i dont know how many people check their K/D despite how often it is thrown around on the forums. I can say that i personaly check it like once a month or so, but it is more out of curiosity than needing to know. I could of course be wrong, like i said no data, but i dont really think people 'knowingly' join with lower K/D since everyone thinks they are good, or atleast decent. Just my thoughts.
-
1.2 KDR is pretty low req. already lol...this is actually quite interesting...explains why all the people that joins are squeaking scrubs lol. I need to KD check more often XD
-
Most people are dishonest, low-quality, low-skill scumbags who will do or say anything to get the advantage that their commie parents and televisions told them they deserved for being born. Good study.
-
This is so true, I've seen so many hilarious requirements request while the OP's are negative. Example is this one guys post, "been flawless 14 times, looking for two beast players to run flawless again" ... I checked his KD and it was at .8 lmao
-
I see a ton of players requiring 1.5+ k/d and lighthouse completions when they don't have either of those. They are just looking nice to be carried
-
In my experience k/d doesn't matter as long as you don't have like a .40 the only thing I ask for in people is that they're very vocal. As long as you're not retarded and can make adjustments quickly you should be fine.
-
This one guy was posting on LFG requiring a 1.7 kd. So I looked up his stats and of course he had a 0.5 kd.
-
I once submitted to a group that was asking for 1.5 Trials K/D, though mine was at 1.47 at the time. However, I knew that my Trials K/D was hurt the first few weekends when I was playing with PvE-focused teammates and hadn't fully adapted to the mode, and that in recent weeks it was definitely at 1.5 or higher. So I felt justified in responding because I felt I met the "spirit" of the requirement. I'd be curious to know how many of your respondents had K/Ds on the rise, or perhaps had a good K/D on one character, but a poor K/D on another character (perhaps a sibling or roommates), lowering the overall average. Just food for thought - I know that would be fatiguing to track down.
-
Another problem is that I bet most people don't know their kdr or even how to check it
-
I always check stats but when I make my posts I am honest. I usually get 1.6 or better which is shown by stAts. In normal pvp and trials. I also let people know if they like they can check my stats because they are there to back them up. And when I say I've been flawless 18x I am telling the truth although that can't be proven. I don't understand why people lie, I'm more likely to add you if you are honest
