In the lord of the rings there were 9, the nine, humans turned into people who turned into wraiths that look like xur were right black robes black same type of voice. They have the eye and the necro person while destiny has the darkness close lord as trolls that turn to stone in sunlight while we have orgers or what ever that the only difference is they shoot been out there eye. you never see one out of the dark. There is the no land beyond in the hobbit they referred to the mountains I think it was as the land beyond 2 letter different so.
Edit what if exos were made to for some me reason to destroy the other rings in middles earths far future because they turn even darker and robots can't get effected by the rings.

It's the movie Oblivion ... get it straight haha :p

This game can be broken down into several popular sci-fi classics. The Cabal can be found in Star Trek. The Nine, as you mentioned, LOTR. Many references to Serenity/Firefly. Perhaps a few from Star Gate... There are little easter homages hidden all over the place. But much of it comes from popular/cult movie and tv.

Even Sauron doesn't hate Middle-Earth enough to compare Destiny to The Lord of the Rings... This has been possibly the worst comparison I've read. Ever.
