I use Self Res in trials a lot as well, but it isn't as OP as you think... nowhere near as OP as that bladedancer waiting around the corner, or that titan that flanks your team only to panic fist all three of you without lube. On the flip Side, I've also shut down a lot of self reviving warlocks, Suppressor grenades, Rockets, Lord of Wolves, Queenbreaker's Bow to the Head, grenades that stick, and well timed melee hits while strafing does wonders. If you complain about Supers in a highly competitive game mode, maybe you should go back to normal crucible and work on countering them or..... learning when and where to expect them.
