If this was Destiny 2, it might be ok. But it's not. No other game replaces all weapons half way through.

Edited by Coyote_x_Starrk: 7/26/2015 3:26:11 AMExpansion based games have ALWAYS done this. There is a difference between a game that relies on DLC and a game that relies on expansions. When a game with DLC releases new content its most often cosmetic items and new maps etc etc. So nothing that changes the statistical dynamic of the game. When a game with expansions releases new content it raises the level cap, introduces new gear with higher stats and new areas. The new better gear is to be the next progression to the gear you have. just like how Crota had better raid gear than VoG and how PoE had better raid gear than Crota. Oh and just to prove your "No other game does this" point wrong. Diablo 3 did this when Reaper of Souls was released. And what was Reaper of Souls again?
Oh thats right. It was an expansion.
I'm not a fan of the condescending tone, but whatever. I would totally understand it if this was an MMO, but it really isn't. That's all I'm saying. Also, I don't see what the problem would be with keeping the existing weapons and adding to them.
-
I am not saying that it is. Diablo and WoW are expansion based games. So is Destiny. That is what expansion based games do. They move on.
-
Fair enough. I still don't see the issue with keeping the existing weapons.
-
You've clearly haven't played MMOs...
-
My comment would have been different if Destiny was an MMO.
-
That doesn't change the fact that games can and will replace armaments throughout its life cycle. Especially one with a leveling system such as this one.
-
That's a good point, but it seems strange to make hundreds of weapons useless, instead of adding other weapons that work just as well.
-
Ehhhhh ive played many mmos and no they dont do that....... You really wanna compare destiny to guild wars 2 ? Lol Ehhhh no...... 1 dungeon in that game is the size of one of the planets.....
-
Are you joking? SWTOR did this with their expansions. WoW does this EVERY TIME they release an expansion. Diablo 3 did it when Reaper of Souls came out So yeah you are VERY wrong on that mark.
-
Did what? Change the end game strongest weapons? Constantly raise the level cap? Im going by the most recent mmo ive played and havent played in two years. If i remember correctly the stats of the end game weapons raise as caps are raised i.e. eternity sword gw2. And any ways u cant fully compare this to an mmo to little content. If in TTk they release a rocket launcher as satisfying to use as the ghorn ill eat my words regarding all the bitterness revolving around ttk

Yes but you are missing the point. The level cap is raised and new gear is introduced. In 99% of expansion based games this means the player is forced to move onto the new content and new gear.
-
With other games bumping up level caps, its necessary to advance. You wouldn't be using the same kind of weaponry in this game without the Etheric light system anyway. It wouldn't be as effective. I think its fine. Progression is progression, even though people don't want to let go of their old favorites, as if its even necessary. You can use old 300 attack gear all you want, but in end game content, only the best gear should flourish. Leave the old gear to adds and lower level strikes in my opinion. But again, its my opinion, and apparently Bungie feels similarly. No two ways about it. Adapt if you wish.

This isn't halfway through though
-
I'm pretty sure Destiny 2 is coming out next year.
-
Sure, Sept 2016. Not March. There is still a year to go and if the previous DLC is any indication the weapons introduced were not as good. They had nothing on the old ones, probably the TTK ones won't either. Why give us Etheric Light only to scrap it for shit tier weapons and possibly ugly ass armor? I would like to keep the same look I am using now: day one legendaries and one exotic from the first DLC. That helmet is the best Titan helmet far as looks go. It was ascended, now I have to throw it away? If this is their plan then people will not stay. It reeks of them not knowing what to do with their own game and any time spent will be wasted. Why would anyone dump money into a game like that? Most wont.
