That depends. You see, if you have to grind for an object that ascends the weapon, the play value is not necessarily lost.

Yes but they won't allow that to happen. Its quite obvious that they are intentionally moving away from the old perks, introducing new ones and nerfing the most widely used ones. They don't want people using the same gear forever and ever. They are not going to put all this time and effort into these new weapon perks and manufacturers when everyone knows taht if given the chance people will continue using guns Fatebringer until the end of time.

Edited by coppertop1124: 7/26/2015 12:44:28 AMThe key here is that if they make the new weapons and gear desirable with better stats/perks than the current/old stuff, people will [i]want[/i] to pursue and use the new stuff. If the new crop is lackluster and just garbage, ala HoW, people will not move on. The onus is on Bungie to create compelling gear, not for us to just up and leave our tried and true gear just for the sake of false progression. Im not saying i wont move on, but only if its worth it. If they dont allow us to ascend our current gear and the TTK weapons are in line with the sh1tty HoW weapons, i will be be one pissed off, very disgruntled "entitled gamer". And im sure a LOT of other people will be too. Im reserving final judgement for the drop because i like what i see so far, but there is a lot of time till release. Weve seen a lot of things change and not always for the better.
