Do you people not understand how progress works?
They are going to increase the level cap to 50 people.
That means that you won't be able to keep your level 32-34 gear. Just like you didn't get to keep using the russian rifle you get in the beginning of the game forever and ever and had to move on to a new gun.
You don't get to choose when you stop progressing or get to demand that nothing changes. People talk about gamer entitlement and for the most part I think its bullshit, but what I am seeing here is the definition of entitlement. You all want all the new content , but you don't wanna give up what you already have. You demand that you get to keep using the same stuff forever unless you find something better.
Thats not how games works. Especially games that are expansion based.
When the Reaper of Souls expansion came to Diablo 3 you didn't get to keep using your old gear. You had to move on to the new content.
When WoW releases a new expansion you don't get to keep using your old gear.
Whe CoD/Halo releases a new game you don't get to keep the gear you were already using in the previous installment.
This is an ACTUAL expansion for Destiny. Not the hollow husks that we got like HoW and TDB yet even THEY forced us to move on to new raid gear and new weapons.
But you think that TTK is somehow different? Despite the fact that it will supposedly contain more than double what HoW and TDB had combined?
Exotics will of course be able to be upgraded, but if you think you should able to be using a Fatebringer (A Level 30 Weapon) and it still be JUST as good as it ever was at Level 50 then you people are out of your minds.
I understand that some people are attached to their weapons and I also understand that some of you still haven't even GOTTEN the weapons in question yet so you don't wanna see that effort go to waste but this is how it has ALWAYS worked when it comes to expansions. Year 1 gear WILL be pushed to the background especially now that they are even releasing new gun makers. Do you really think they would go through all of this trouble and effort of creating all this new content, but still let everyone use and abuse the old stuff as well?
EDIT: Just to be clear I am speaking about PvE exclusively. I know that in PvP you will obviously be able to use whatever you want. I am talking about PvE where numerical stats actually matter.
EDIT 2: Also just to be clear I am not claiming they are gonna REMOVE the old guns. I am simply saying that by increasing the level cap they will be forcing you to REPLACE the old guns.

Honestly, I'm not going to worry about losing my old legendaries, but I don't see why they can't just make the guns obsolete after they launch destiny 2?
-
So where is it confirmed that we won't get to ascend our gear in TTK?
-
I wish there was a way to preserve them like a artifact in a museum.
-
Lvl 50 was not confirmed bruh
-
I honestly outside of my VoC have nothing I would want to take except for Exotics, Exotics should be able to continue in my opinion
-
Shit just used all of my ethric light (that was spelled wrong). And I just got kabr's boots from vog
-
Conversations with developers video makes me think the light cap will be 500. Video came after E3 and they added a teaser of the login screen
-
Then they should have never let us ascend stuff right?
-
If this was Destiny 2, it might be ok. But it's not. No other game replaces all weapons half way through.
-
They are saying that year one perks are getting nerfed, so I don't see why it would be such a big -blam!-ing deal to be able to upgrade and use old weapons. More diversity is better. I for one, am sick and -blam!-ing tired of everyone using the same 3 primaries.
-
Exotics need to stay relevent but everything else change

Despite popular belief, often fueled by newbies such as OP- Destiny is not an MMO. Destiny is an open world FPS. Google it. Now that we've established that the foundation upon which OP built his entire useless wall of text, let's start discussing what progress REALLY means. Let's say that you own a house. For some reason, the living area is simply not enough: you need an extra room. What do you do: A) Tear down the entire house and rebuild it with an extra room. B) Break down a wall and build another room from there. The way OP things progression works, is in fact institutionally retarded. There is no progression without progress: and starting all over every 3 months is not progress- it's a waste of time. /thread

If all legendaries are going to fade, why worry about nerfing black hammer?
-
Ehhhhh.. in diablo 3 i had a special russian sword that will still 1 hit kill anything inndiablo 6
-
Let us keep exotics. Thats all i ask
-
You are completely negating people who are just now getting into Destiny when TTK goes live. It's not like vanilla Destiny or TTK separately are chock full of activities, and it's not like suddenly going into year two this expansion is a whole new game, cause it's not. I hope they include some way of ascending or upgrading, or hey, here's a novel idea: bump up the difficulty slider for the current 3 PVE endgame activities as well have them drop items that are to the new standards...whichever way suits... #thinkofthenoobs #addtothegamedontjustreplaceshit
-
I'm somewhat torn on this subject, I've held onto one single vanilla gun. It was my first legendary, purchased through hard work and perseverance. The Devil You Know will always be my first true gun love. When the day comes that it won't be viable to use I will be saddened. But I know something will fill its spot in my inventory. But you best believe I will keep her tucked away in the vault. Again awaiting the time when a material comes out that will bring old weapons back to their former glory.
-
Wow, someone who gets it. That's shocking to find in this community.
-
Why would they nerf weapons like Black Hammer if it were to become useless anyways? That would also leave VoG, ToO, PoE, and Crota's End to be pointless.
-
I smell arc, solar, void gear coming, making old school gear useless.
-
I think only exotics and raid gear should be upgradable

What is progression? How do you define it? This game is not about progression. It's about getting the most op weapons to take less time to kill monsters. Progression is getting better weapons to kill newer and stronger monsters you couldn't kill with your older weapons. The new weapons should be op to older content. When they released House of wolves, they did not release any noteworthy weapons. No new powerful weapons. The ttk better release better and more fun weapons. When I looked at the weapons the first thing I noticed is that these are weapons that call of duty would have. Nothing futuristic about it. I think it will be another disappointing cache of weapons.
-
The reason year one gear should be relevant in year 2 is because we are talking about armor and weapons. There's no reason even in a Sci-fi fantasy world that weapons and armor couldn't be augmented or upgraded in some way to keep up with current technologies. Therefor we should be able to upgrade even basic common gear to be relevant with whatever the current level cap is. Not only is this a more robust and realistic approach to supplying a guardian with gear but will make the options even greater for customization and uniqueness down the road when the amount of choices could (given we actually were able to upgrade even common gear) be hundreds of styles. At that point truly no 2 guardians would look alike but the playing field could still be level. I hope that this intrigues some of you cause I for one would love to see it

Bungie doesn't know what they're doing anymore. They're riding the success of the base game. The new weapons will suck worse than the HOW weapons.

Edited by RenderFX: 7/26/2015 12:48:49 AMBungie Meeting: We must encourage everyone to try different loadouts by nerfing the most popular weapons. Okay, done. What now? I know! Let's force everyone into using just the handful of new weapons in TTK, so we can all be different, together! Good hustle, team. Cake! On a serious note, whichever way they go, they need to stick with it and stay consistent. Once it leaves the sandbox, you don't get to change your mind without enraging the player base. Players have hundreds or thousands of hours invested, and invalidating their efforts will only make them want to spend their time elsewhere.
