Right, as the title says, this is a discussion I want to open up about the major shortcomings that are going to deter me from investing any more money into this game.
1. Probably the most heated and discussed topic in the game - Crucible Lag
I am a day one player, I'm aware that I am not the best, yet a the same time I am no slouch either. Since the dawn of FPS games, cheaters have existed, and it is only becoming worse. I am not saying that every time I run into someone lagging they are cheating, but lately that seems to be the case. Since the first trials was introduced, the cheaters finally went all out with complete disregard about being caught and facing penalty. I find it humiliating on Bungie's part that a company with their resources and development team can be thwarted by a 12 year old and a free program they can download to manipulate their connection to the game. The community consensus is to have dedicated servers to alleviate the player's ability to mod their connection. It would appear that will never happen because Jokervision, i mean Activision, its too money hungry and their execs needs that profit bonus to award themselves for a scam, i mean job, well done.
Once a player runs through the PVE portion of the game, there isnt much else to do except PVP to test your skills and keep one's self entertained until the next dlc. Which, in my opinions, makes the crucible just as relevant as the PVE portion of the game. Bungie keeps talking about changes to the bosses and what not, but have yet to release any major announcement in regard to how they plan to fix the crucible aside from an upcoming weapons update. WooHoo! WE WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING BUNGIE TO FIX THIS !!!!! (side note- I REFUSE to reduce myself into using the thorn or last word in the crucible, i've had the thorn for a long time, I've used it a couple times just because, but my TLWs remain untouched and sitting in my vault)
Another factor about lag, matchmaking is horrendous. I'm not too worried about skill based matchmaking, rather I want them to focus on regional areas. I'm in Texas, why the heck am I matching up to players in the UK, South America (brasil mostly), or some other country THOUSANDS of miles away across the "pond" cough* cough* UK. How is that even possible, and this is even during peak playing times, its ridiculous. Before I report or call a player out, I check their profile on xbox to see what country they're in, I know players can make it what they want, so I check their friends too, I can usually decipher where a player is from. I have okay internet and I ALWAYS game hardwired with the proper recommended modem settings.
For me, this is the main reason, despite my urge, to NOT buy TTK. It is just not a smart move to invest in a broken system, I mean, would you keep going to a restaurant if you had cruddy service every time and left with a bitter taste in your mouth?
2. The lack of actual new content and end game content in the DLC's thus far.
It was proven by many that The Dark Below expansion was already part of the main game, but we had to pay to unlock it. It just seemed they put new missions into existing areas, nothing new to really explore. They have yet to do anything new with Mars, what a waste of a pretty cool map. The Wolves expansion just introduced higher level enemies that already existed for the most part, just enlarged, whoop dee doo. I will give props for the prision, its a nice change of pace, but gets played out pretty quick. The overall game is pretty good, but why just be good when you have the potential to be great? Also, another community issue is the lack of back story and what is really going on.
3. The deal new players are getting with the upcoming legendary pack, $60 for content that us day one players will have spent $140 on (minimum).
From what I've seen, there isn't going to be enough new content to justify another $40 US. I have a feeling the expansion could be ran through in two, maybe three gaming sessions. We have already been somewhat scammed with the previous two, why would I do it a third time?
My logic is this, if we the community come together and vow to not buy TTK until the crucible is addressed and promised a fix, we can force their hand. Because in reality, that is where all players end up after completing the PVE portions of the game. Take out money and invest it into fixing the game rather than dishing out bonuses to the board and investors. After all, without out money their would be no bonuses to give out. I know I'm not alone in this logic, yet I remain foolishly optimistic that Bungie will introduce some sort of fix for the crucible regardless. Their track record thus far is not so hot, and is only going downhill each day they allow cheaters to run rampant. At least hold out and don't pre order TTK, despite whatever enticements they try to throw out way.

Well said about the financial view ..... Bungie are really greedy .... And they are literally luring to your face and then throwing goodies to reel u back in
-
Bump Keep pumping money into Activision and they'll have no reason to fix it.

Stop trying to convince everyone to blindly follow you. Let it be a personal decision.

Ya im waitin for it to release and get some different reviews on it. I have a strong feeling that the content wont be worth 40 bucks. If so. By bt destiny till theres a bundle release with some more dlc's for less than 40 haha. I highly doubt ttk has twice the content of crota and HoW. Which cost me $20.
-
Agree on the crucible lag.... they have to do something about it or else the thing to do after u beat the pve content is gone... they are changing parts of crucible in the ttk to show headshots and etc so here's hoping they fixed the netcode while they were in there...
-
Lol you didn't even mention that bungie will cut content if they see too many preorders...
-
Tl:dr op is bored of destiny
-
Im from the UK so I am not paying the £40 for dlc. I am going to buy TTK but I am going to get it once the price drops. Or get a preowned version if it is not dlc code in the box. But out the gate im not paying that amount. Besides there are loads of games coming out at the end of the year so I might not even come back to destiny.

Buying it, don't care, didn't even read.

#Warframe
-
We already know all this. I'm buying it anyway. Because...Oh look bright, shiny lights!!
-
I saw the magical # while reading. That is literally a weeks pay for me. It isn't much money m8. The rest is just redundant.
-
I'm on the fence: I'm looking forward to Year Two and seeing how this game grows; but I don't trust Bungie.
-
Buying TTK then most likely waiting until the next expansion is released so I get Destiny 2, 2 DLCs, and an expansion for $60 instead of $140 since I feel I've been ripped off enough by Destiny. That is unless Bungie and Activision persuade me with limited availability on some new features in which case I will be very angry but, buy everything at release because that's how we fans will always react and both Bungie and Activision are loving taking advantage of this.
-
More is always good and as long Bungie continues to support this game and out out more content, I will keep playing it.
-
At the end if the day its us the players that makes bungie turn by supporting them and as the customer we need to demand fair and just service.
-
Don't worry. I'm done with this bungies attitude.
