What do you think, #Community, do offsite forums have a positive or a negative effect on the community as a whole?
Offsite forums are created when—for whatever reason—someone decides to leave one forum(Bungie.net's, for example) and create another forum themed similar to the original(Flood V2, for example). It happens time and time again. Popular sites for Bungie.net offsites include Proboards and Zetaboards.
So, do you think of offsite forums as a positive extension of the larger community, or as a blight on the face of it?
Keep all discussion civil, please.

It depends on the purpose of the move. If they're leaving out of spite for a lack of features, then it divides the community and has a negative impact. However, if they split off for growth, personalization, and a common goal, then it's positive.

They expand on the community IMO. People don't need to be so negative about them.

Positive in my opinion.

No need to flood the thread with discussion. I mean Jeez Louise, so many posts in here.

They definitely have the possibility of going either way. I believe the impact becomes negative when the users of the offsite devote no time to the original one.
