So in the update last week I read this -
"Gjallarhorn was so strong that for many people it had become the only answer to getting through tough encounters, and therefore they were less willing to spend time with other players that didn’t have it".
Followed by - "We strive for destiny to be a place where a single weapon or strategy does not dictate how, or whom you spend your time".
Which to me states that people are not helping other players get through things like nightfalls and raids because they don't own a gjallarhorn. People were excluding fellow guardians from play.
The next sentence in that update states that "In the new world gjallarhorn is still worthy of it's legacy as an exotic Heavy weapon, but we hope it promotes inclusive behaviour rather than exclusivity".
So in my understanding, people being jerks not helping out because others don't have a certain gun leads to a nerf of said gun. Correct?
In this weeks update I read -
"There will be more choices than ever to arm yourself in the tower. Factions will have their own guns. Classes will have their own guns."
Let's stop there. Help me out here. Bungie are going to nerf gjallarhorn because of exclusivity, but then they release a statement that could promote even more exclusivity?
This wouldn't be the first time we see a class type of exclusivity either. Remember when Crota's end was released? The only way anyone would be bothered to do that raid was to have a Titan who could jump up from the lamp post. After the first round of patches came through to current game state, people will hold off from doing it without a warlock to cheese the bridge. These examples of exclusivity are ones that bungie could not help, people will always try to cheese/glitch through a game.
Gjallarhorn nerf or not, as the last 2 weekly updates read I think exclusivity is going to be a problem, possibly an even bigger issue. For those of you who don't think this will be a problem, that's cool, but if people are excluding you because you don't have a gjallarhorn you should believe that a gun that can be wielded by a different class type than you, a gun that makes a particular part easier, will still mean that you are going to get left out (To put that a different way, imagine you are a warlock trying to get into a raid, but hunters were the only class that can use gjallarhorn...). For anyone getting rejected by people for not having a gun, feel free to join my clan.

There has always been exclusivity things that class based. It just wasn't on a outrageous scale like the GHorn which had a enormous terrible feedback from the community of players who basically could play the end game content.
-
The only way it works is if every class has a way to get similar perks on similar weapons. Considering how this game is designed so far I'm willing to bet it will be as follows. hunters-shotguns and hand cannons that give an additional golden gun shot or longer duration of blade dancer. titan-auto rifles that cuts the distance for shoulder charge in half or award an additional melee Warlocks get a fusion rifle that makes solar grenades burn longer.,,, Sincerely A warlock that has examined exotic armor on all the classes. Also one who is expecting to get the short end of the stick.

They're adding loads of new guns, no where to put them though.
-
I've done Skolas with someone who had a Dreamwaker. I don't care if you have gjally, I just prefer you did.
-
I've done PoE 35 three times. Every time I've been kicked on the final boss because I do not have a Ghorn. But I agree it's not the weapon but the players and the boss fights themselves that are the problem. Most boss fights are not hard with only 2-3 phases just kill adds shoot boss repeat. It just takes time and the mind set for most gamers is not to make it more difficult but to just beat it as quickly as possible. Ghorn has the highest dps but nerfing it isn't going to fix the issue.
-
Two things to avoid 1. People who require Gjallarhorn - They are too unwilling to try it without because they know they aren't able to complete the mission without it 2. People who cheese anything. Because guess what, cheesing isn't fun and without it there isn't any exclusivity
-
I can just see it now... "If you're not in FWC, and/or don't have the (insert gun here), you can't join my raid team!" ...way to go Bungie...
-
Gjallarhorn isn't the problem. Needing gjallarhorn won't do a damn thing. It's people's maturity and attitudes. You can't nerf those.
-
I agree there balls. I believe there needs to be balance, but I feel bungie is going in the wrong direction

I picture 3 to 4 monkeys sitting in a board room in business suits...jokes . This game has so much potential yet it seems to elude them in some way

Wow really guns for certain classes only wtf but i dnt want a warlock!!!
