I too have all exotics on my console. Excited to get hawkmoon, not excited I can't experience its power but I'll never know the difference I guess. I'm used to Diablo balancing very few months and old stuff becoming obsolete. If the newest stuff is quality and fun to use I don't care if I have to leave behind a play style; keeps it fresh.
My friends are growing a bit tired of destiny they will likely try fallout 4 and gears. Chances are I'll have to play them both too. I don't think the new balance changes are all bad. I trust the vision of the devs enough, they've made a solid game.

Solid game minus the raids. Remember Arheon killing you in the relic bubble or the sword bearer not giving up his sword?

Yeah the bubble seemed to not glitch as long as you stayed away from the wall so we had some control over that. The sword... That's a different story. Btw I finally ran sword successfully for my first time with a group of four guys that have only done the raid a handful of times. Made me feel so good! That feeling when you beat Crota no wipes first time.
