Love how they mention the "balance up" method from Blizzard.

And here they are arguing to nerf weapons from 11 days ago

Edited by Jonisawsom: 7/18/2015 7:03:33 AMYou obviously never played WoW if you think Blizzard never nerfs anything and only balances up. LOL dumbest thing I ever heard. Did an 8 year old kid write that article? Btw if they balance everything up, they'd also increase enemy health. It's much easier to nerf 2-3 OP abilities than to increase 100s of others. You're also more likely to wind up with more mistakes or new OP or UP abilities that fall through the cracks. Edit: Here go read through the recent changes in WoW. Might want to scroll down to the section for each class. Notice how many nerfs ( and buff and tweaks and redesigns ) there are. Quite a few nerfs huh? So what's this about Blizzard always balancing up? http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/19806402/fury-of-hellfire-62-patch-notes-6-22-2015

Edited by JHarv: 7/18/2015 5:50:01 AMThat guy is a total idiot. How do you balance up to a 0.4 second kill time? Make auto rifles do 50 headshot damage? You have to balance down because those were outliers in the *too fast* direction. And he says "you either have ghorn, thorn, or hate them" I have all of it, and I hate being forced to use like 4 guns in this game. It's not like I'm crying because I don't have "the power of ghorn". Its stupid that I've been using the same goddamm strategy for like 10 months now for everything pve. Ghorn it all dead. I welcome the change, and I welcome the game slowing down in both pve and pvp. The nerf had to happen. End of story.

I kinda agree but how mobs work in destiny mean they can't do that as the TTK would become wwaaayy to short. I do agree though the bullet sponge boss model needs to change asap. Ffs they have to wow they hsve 10 years of raid design they could draw from.
-
Stupid article, if you can call it that. Thorn and Gjallarhorn are overpowered, its as simple as that.
-
Edited by eternal_napalm: 7/18/2015 6:33:21 AMThat Blizzard dev gets it. Gjallarhorn in no way shape or form needed nerfed. Ditto for Ice Breaker and Black Hammer. I'm beyond sick and -blam!-ing tired of grinding for shit and have it become worthless from a Nerf. I've -blam!-ing HAD it. People who liked the game liked how weapons were worth getting. Guess what, Spungie? Those shitty HoW POE weapons? Nobody grinds for them. Nobody wants them. People don't give a rats ass for them. -blam!- the crybabies in this game, -blam!- Bungie for catering to them, and -blam!- their bullet sponges. I did dozens upon dozens of raids and hundreds of hours of grinding for Gjallarhorn, I don't need it but I wanted it, God forbid players actually have actual fvcking player progression and enjoy some fvcking good weapons. Guess what? Players fvcking WANT good powerful weapons not weapon communism for the garbage PVP! Same story for months now and it's the last straw, -blam!- TTK and -blam!- Destiny

This is exactly what I have been saying since the nerfs were announced

The Gjallarhorn nerf is going to backfire horribly. The people who feel they need Gjallys to get through endgame activities will now be even more stingy with allowing those in that don't have one. No longer can one person with Gjally cover the damage output of another without it, and thus it will become a requirement for everyone in the fireteam. The nerf that they thought would diminish its exclusivity is actually going to promote more elitism. Repost this everywhere you can so bungie understands why when the patch drops people become even more frustrated and excluded from raids and other things.

If you actually agree with any of the tripe the author of that article wrote, you're an even bigger idiot the he is. Balancing up works in concept only for PvE games. Doing so in Destiny effectively turn it into a OHK clusterf#ck in PvP. If you think getting killed every 5 seconds by super sayin god versions of all of the weapons would be fun, quit playing Destiny now...cuz you clearly ain't cut out for it. The meta is broken...period. in pvp 4 guns rule. In pve 3 guns rule. There's over 100 total guns in the game. If having to differ to the same loadout and strategies as every else is appealing gameplay to you, I pity you...because you're a sheep following the flock. I never stopped using ARs after the nerf. Did my K/D suffer as result? Damn right it did. Dropped from 1.71 to below .97 in 1.1.1. I could have easily just grabbed my Thorn and jumped on the bandwagon, but that wouldn't be fun for me. And that's why I play, to have fun. I am an AR and PR guy. Don't use scouts often, and don't like HCs. Just not my style. The last half year has been brutal in pvp for me, but I endured knowing my primary of choice will one day return to usefullness. That day is drawing near, and I welcome it. My K/D will climb again, and pvp will be fun enough for me to spend more time in it again. Leveling the playing field involved giving weapons strengths AND weaknesses, not making everything OP so nothing is OP. The presrnt state of Shotguns should be the clear indicator that such an idea is horrible.

Interesting read.
-
Bungie is very stubborn. The game is designed by a bunch on engineers and architects and not GAMERS that's why they don't understand game is supposed to be FUN and not frustration! My $.02
-
I think he's wrong.. Bringing all the other guns up to the most powerful ones ?!! So ttk will be quicker all over and every gun will nuke bosses in seconds.....no no no no

(>'.')> <('.'<) (^'.'^) <('.')> ( '.')

Anyone who has played WoW knows that they nerf all the time
-
I would like to point out that they referenced rob Pardo from blizzard when talking about balancing. Blizzard is the last company on earth who should give balancing advice. That discredited the entire article.
-
I remember that interview. If was in a pc gamer. And I agree that's the better way to go. How about buffing the blast radius of cluster bombs so they are more effective against single targets. That would go along way towards making other rockets useful as the old Gjallahorn.

Edited by WhoAteMyFunDip: 7/18/2015 5:25:52 AMForbes constantly has erroneous info in their gaming articles. I've called one of their writers out on a few mistakes and caused a couple of updates. Stick to money, Forbes.

Interesting article and it makes valid points.

"How To Get Paid To Trash BUNGIE About Everything" -A novel produced by Forbes.

Forbes usually posts garbage, and this is no different. Stopped reading after "you either have Thorn or you hate it". "You either have Gjallarhorn or you can't get a group" I have every exotic out there and this guy sounds like an idiot. Thorn is stupidly OP and desperately needed a nerf. What's the point of the other 100+ guns if there's only 4 guns that matter in PVP? Gjallarhorn is no different. It's the answer for everything.. What is the point of even having other exotics?
-
I don't think so. "Balance up" only works for a game that's purely PvE, which is why Borderlands has some crazy overpowered guns. Throw PvP in there, and "balancing up" reduces time-to-kill and waters down the multiplayer experience. Basically, it becomes CoD. These changes were necessary because some of the guns were the absolute top choice for their corresponding activity (Thorn for PvP, Gjallarhorn for PvE). They severely overshadowed any other choice one could make and, if you weren't going in using these guns, you were immediately at a disadvantage. In a game with so many guns to choose from, so few of them shouldn't reign supreme.
-
No, its stupid. Power creep is a bad idea.
-
Good call. Balancing up would have been an awesome answer as opposed to all the nerfing. Man, think of all the possibilities.....
-
Bump the Crap out if this!
-
They tried that with last weapon update. And you got thorn. I'll take nerfs over 6 months of thorn dominance any day. Also Forbes gaming articles are outright horrid.
-
understand that the ads in pve can have their health buffed to compensate for weapon balancing that buffs instead of nerfing right? Gally is to op don't nerf it! You buff its brethren so players that don't have a Gally perhaps have a dragons breath with tracking. Truth with a impact buff. Now players that have and are bored with the Gally have other options as well. Bungie sucks!
