Because bungie is moving forward with their game and is adding new weapons to the future content. They don't want players too keep using the same weapons they always have been.

So you're saying they should keep recycling old ideas and just trash good, unique weapons every once in a while to give incentive to buy expansions with new ones?
-
No not at all. I don't agree with the way they are doing it but they are just moving forward. Look at other games that progress this way. Big expansion comes out and everything gets left behind. You can still get the old stuff but really there's not point. Destiny was at its peak (this is my opinion) in the first around 8 weeks of the game. When it took around 5 weeks for the first level 30 and the game was incredible enjoyable to level up in. I'm hoping that's the way it is in TTK, I want to have to work for max level and insanely good weapons. It's fine if the old supreme weapons are good aswell. But honestly they shouldn't compete.

I agree with the point that they're moving forward with their game, but that shouldn't mean they nerf the shit out of great weapons to make room for the droves of subpar ones. Instead of lowering the bar, raise it.

I totally agree, instead of making the old guns worse make the new ones better and make more challenging content to make up for it.
