No one wanted a gally nerf, bungie did. They are trying to cut out all must have maxed gally crap. However I think this will backfire because by nerfing it they create the mindset of we definitely need 6 maxed gallys now. And sadly the must be 34 with maxed gally crowd will never change anyway. Should have just had xur sell it.

  • The requirement crap was a bullshit excuse, I wrote about the true reason behind the nerf: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/139305011/0/0 We can't let Bungie -blam!- us like this, enough is enough.

  • Completely agree. At the point of the nerf, teams are going to want to make up for the loss of GHorn damage. Unfortunately, the only way to do that is by running 4+ Ghorns instead of 2-3. The main problem is in gameplay design. They made all these bosses meatsacks and thought players were not going to just try to burn them as quickly as possible with the best options available. What is worse, the nerfs to Hammer and Breaker only made it more likely that people are going to require Horns. And let's not even start on the abysmal drop rates for gear and lack of player economy. Another problem that sits at Bungie's feet: no optional matchmaking. Let people randomly form groups for stuff and at least the people who do not have GHorns could just jump in an event with whomever and try and get lucky that way. Plus, people would expect some teammates to not have optimal gear, but so long as they are not too far off the mark, you just run the event anyway. Forcing people to use 3rd-party or off-game means to make a group because they could not be bothered to add it in and it was inevitable that some people were going to start requiring it. The failing of the players falls to the false equating of "having GHORN = skill or knowledge with a raid/event," which then fed into the "must have G or ur a scrub and don't bother trying to team with us" mentality. Did we seriously believe that players without it, and effectively being ostracized from running events, were not going to have words with Bungie? Did we seriously believe that Bungie's intent was for us to form cliques based on what amounts to luck, and that Bungie was not going hurt the players with Horns rather than help players without one when they got around to actually doing something? The players, knowing Bungie's history, did a good bit of this to ourselves.

  • Exactly right. I'm amazed bungie didn't think it through!

  • Yeah, you definitely make a good point. It probably will somewhat backfire.
