Now with Gjally's wolfpack rounds getting nerfed and its effectivity reduced. I've thought about something: won't most people want even more people with a gjally after the nerf? Before, few people would accept others without it because they already had enough firepower to deal with the objective.
After the nerf have been applied, I believe the it will only promote even more elitism amongst the already toxicated player base. Everytime I visit the LFG forums a lot of the post contain a "must have gjally" requirement.
By nerfing the wolfpack rounds, people will feel the need to only accept gjallys to accumulate for the nerf introduced, thus resulting a backfire to this nerf's original intent. To eliminate exclusivity.
Any thoughts?
Edit 1: To admit, I've never owned a Gjally before and I've played since day one. I have already had much trouble trying to get into a raid or PoE team.
Edit 2: Better formulated the op.

Well from past experiences from other games the elitism isn't that bad as suppose to WoW back in the day you had to have all the right gear right spec be able to carry your weight and everyone could tell if you weren't with dps meters and to get into any respectable raid guild you had to submit a resume oh and maybe you had to be older than 17 (which I lied about for a year or so) so just people saying must have a gally isn't that bad not defending because the job can still get done without it I mean a player with that just started 2 weeks ago can get gally and be a noob but I think this is linked to another problem and that would be lack of clan/guild support I know we have clans and it only support from bnet but it's not supported ingame so vast majority of players are always looking for randoms to make a PUG so people will always look for the path of least resistance want randoms to have gally cuz does so much DPS nobody want to carry every time they do a raid or really anything don't get me wrong I don't mind teaching or helping people but sometime I want to cruise threw a raid

They need to reduce max ammo and buff all others damage output. Otherwise we will just lose.
-
They do not care about that, they nerfed Gjallahorn so the new launchers they are releasing with TTK are more powerful instead of just making a better launcher we would all want. The same goes for the rest of the weapons nerfed. I am actually glad they did this it finally made me put the game down. R.I.P. Destiny
-
If players want to wait for a full fireteam of Gally's then good luck to them but a Gally ISN'T required now so it will just be even more idiotic to insist on them when they are less effective. Join a good clan & you don't have to worry about being accepted.
-
What!!!!! They nerfed the Gjallerhorn so it backfires???? That would actually be worth getting wound up about.
-
The way I see it, Ghorn is OP because it out damages everything because of Wolfpack. Unless the rounds get nerfed into cottonballs, it'll still out DPS everything. So the point of the nerf is moot. If anything, it's an excuse to nerd Gally because of the bulletsponge bosses falling too fast.
-
It will backfire on the players yes but bungie won't care, I don't believe for a second that the reason they gave is true. It's because the gally is too powerful and they don't want players beating Ttk in a couple of days with the gally like we have with the previous content. Bungie seems incapable of making bosses that aren't just bullet sponges, which the gally takes down way too quickly
-
Exactly

Bungie never thinks these things through. That is probably the exact thing that is going to happen. The LFG thing is Bungie's fault to begin with. Plus, if the content were better designed where a powerful rocket wasn't necessarily the best way to get something done, it woouldn't even be an issue. VoG in no way needs Gjallahorn. The entire design allows for a variety of weapons to work, and having a powerful rocket is not the best strategy. Rather than design the other encounters in a similar, creative fashion, Bungie has followed one simple formula which comes down to "Burn the Boss down as fast as possible". Do they look in the mirror and see it was they that created this situation. Of course not. Their solution is to keep doing what they are doing, pretty much the same boss encounters, and artificially making it harder on the player by making the boss stronger and weakening the player. The actual gameplay itself does not change. TLDR Bungie is the reason for all this "Need Gjally" sh*t!
-
Hum, that's quite interesting. You may mark a point on this, but it may depend on how gjallarhorn will be nerfed since we don't know how many percent will be removed. We can't say right now but it may be a possibility and maybe that won't change the problem bungie is trying to fix unless gjallarhorn become useless witch is clearly not their intend.
-
I wanna see if anyone can solo Crota hard mode as a lv32 with the nerfed gjallahorn
-
Are you serious? So if Gjallarhorn is almost on par with other rocket launchers then wouldn't any RL be sufficient? If it's only a little bit better instead of astronomically better then nobody should care, right? If on a scale of 1-100 Gjallarhorn was 100 and truth was a 75 and you bring Gjallarhorn down to an 80 then everybody can play because it doesn't matter what rocket launcher you have because the difference isn't alot

Exactly

Bump because I got banned without any reason.
-
Gally petition
-
As ive said in, another post, Its us the bungie commuity what warrants these changes, Not all but few of us, exclude others for not being "lucky" and attaining it, Personally bummed, i love firing this Op beast
-
I have a feeling that this nerf will put it on par with other launchers and thus xur will sell it
-
You know what will happen? The "new gjally" in TTK will be come the "required" weapon. Instead of nerfing the damn thing they should have upped its drop rate and let XUR sell it.
-
I have had Gally since my first nightfall, 2 weeks in. And I have never knocked a player back for the guns they have. There was only ever a problem if they were rood, or just wouldn't listen. As the game moved on and the number of players with Gally increased I felt somewhat free of it so I could use other guns. So that said don't misunderstand me, it is not a crutch for me, I don't need it to accomplish an objective. But I really feel like they should have gone the other way, and offered an incentive to help players without the weapon. No, I don't know what a fair incentive would be. (A boon to RNG to increase chance of good drops?). But at the very least no one would be feeling like they're being punished for the actions of others.
-
I've been playing since day one and have never had problems finding people to play with and i just got galley a week ago
-
True OP but bungie are bunch of casuals
-
My team were doing crota with 4 people all lvl 34 in 2 swords yesterday. The three rocketers had maxed 365 galleys and 3 rockets ripped the Shields away. That if ablnything going forwards is the reason for the nerf. Assuming exotics can be ascended in ttk, imagine the damage a 400 Gally can do after September, or even worst a 440 or 484 Gally afterward a couple more expansions. Destiny nerfs level so a lvl 40 character does the same maxed damage as a lvl 34 against lvl 33 crota, while the guns base damage keeps going up. I think is is why they are changing guns, they realised that continuing this path players will soon be able to one-shot crota or atheon.

Concept. Ppl who have trouble finding a group start their own group. Problem solved. I have a gally and am not a elitist. I just dont understand why ppl are to lazy to create their own group. They can set the rules. It is not that hard to find other gaurdians to join.
-
Nerfing a weapon because a lot of people don't have it is the most idiotic concept I've ever heard out of a gaming company. Most games like this have those white whale guns that everyone strives to get. Why not come up with actual fight mechanics for once so you're not able to just burn the boss down?
-
Honestly, if Gjallarhorn remains the best launcher, people will still demand it. If they nerf it into irrelevancy, the next best boss-melter will be identified and take its place :(
