Now with Gjally's wolfpack rounds getting nerfed and its effectivity reduced. I've thought about something: won't most people want even more people with a gjally after the nerf? Before, few people would accept others without it because they already had enough firepower to deal with the objective.
After the nerf have been applied, I believe the it will only promote even more elitism amongst the already toxicated player base. Everytime I visit the LFG forums a lot of the post contain a "must have gjally" requirement.
By nerfing the wolfpack rounds, people will feel the need to only accept gjallys to accumulate for the nerf introduced, thus resulting a backfire to this nerf's original intent. To eliminate exclusivity.
Any thoughts?
Edit 1: To admit, I've never owned a Gjally before and I've played since day one. I have already had much trouble trying to get into a raid or PoE team.
Edit 2: Better formulated the op.

i honestly dont think they are nerfing most of the weapons including ghally because of the excuses they are giving.i honestly think they are doing it because they dont want any of the yr one weapons being used as much as the new weapons in TTK.this may also be why they are not giving us any more vault space they feel they made a mistake giving us such awesome weapons right off the bat from the vault of glass and they dont like the fact that we all use the same old weapons.they say they listen to us which is true but they only change the complaints they want.nobody asked for a ghally nerf but here it is.and guess what?if too many of us are still using it by nov or December the will nerf it even more until we all delete it and use their shiny new exotics
-
No because you can use other rockets
-
This has been a topic of discussion since the nerf was announced.
-
Didn't think of that. But now that you pointed it out, it's a possibility. Depends how much less effective it is. If it's dropped to the level of like HoC, then we'll be good as far as people requiring it goes. But if it's only nerfed a little, it'll make more people require ghally.
-
Yes. This will blow up in bungies face (no pun intended). Nerfing gally will only increase the demand for everyone on a fireteam to have it. Idiots.

Edited by lusciouscookies: 7/25/2015 8:32:04 AMYou mean leave the problem as it is? Let's take a look; "Solution" 1; Let Xur sell Gally So make the game even more easier by giving everybody a nuke, destroying any challenge Destiny can provide in the future, making the game stale and boring when there is ALWAYS one answer to bosses? NO. "Solution" 2; Don't nerf Gally Leaving the problem as it is? That it's a bragging tool, and an excuse to breed exclusivity to a social game? Alienating newer players who aren't lucky with RNG from basic experiences like raids or even nightfalls? NO. Gally will always be an undeniable exotic, for both its looks and function. Sadly, it's been overused as an excuse to divide the community AND to devolve unique and challenging challenges, into "JUST MELT HIM". Any self respecting person who plays a game, not to just beat it, but beat it AND have fun, would welcome a challenge instead of taking the easy way out. Therefore, in the next update, there won't be such an easy way out.
-
This update was never about balancing weapons or whatever nonsense they tired explaining.the simple fact is they are slowly(or quickly) phasing original weapons out to entice new weapons to be more desirable thus giving players a sense of purpose and reward to continue to grind it out...
-
We'll have to wait and see just how much it gets nerfed. If it gets nerfed hard, then it won't matter because people will be able to use any heavy weapon in PvE without elitists worrying about it.. If it just gets a slight nerf to damage, it could make things worse.
-
Well the explanation bungie gave for the nerf was that people without it basically whined about being excluded. I only got mine about a month ago but I was never excluded from anything just because I didn't have one however having a ghorn does help. It's not a cheese. Most of the time I prefer using my ice breaker anyway. All the people who bitched about it enough to get it nerfed deserve to excluded even more now for ruining other people's fun.

No offense man, but that is the dumbest load of crap I have read on the forum all day.... and that's saying something, have you read these forums at all?!
-
Soon Nighthawk exotic helmet will be king
-
I see you have watched datto's video, get original scrub
-
Instead of writing nerf codes they could have written a simple multiple page vault space increase and fix the fracking server issues as well as giving us check points for PoE.
-
it already backfired and they havent even made it live , lots of TTK purchases lost , lots of players slapped in the face
-
They really could just fix the whole damn elitist problem by putting gally back into Xurs table.
-
I don't think so. The nerd will make gally on par with other rocket launchers, so it will do the same (or close to the same) amount of damage as a dragons breath. This means people who understand the damage outputs will accept other rockets into their raid groups.
-
It's just gonna cause people to want more Gjallarhorns. That or people will play without one. It'll still be the strongest rocket launcher. But it won't live up to its name anymore,
-
if they really wanted to fix the gally problem they would have fixed other exotic heavys
-
-
That logic only makes sense if the Gjallarhorn was the only rocket launcher in the game. The nerf makes other launchers a viable option.
-
I agree
-
Yet another one of these -.-

If you need gally to beat whatever you're playing. Your not good!
