Bungie nerfs Gjally, Gjally still reigns supreme.
Gjally does less DPS, so it'll become more relevant, since everyone in your fireteam will need one to output as much DPS as possible.
More and more posts with Gjally only will emerge on LFG.
JOB WELL DONE BUNGIE! Or am I missing something?
@Deej or @Cozmo : you're reading this? Elitism will prevail unfortunately. Go report that back to your game designers ;-)
Let me make it easy for you, lets say we need 225k damage to kill a boss. Gjally does 9k while other rockets do 6k. Everyone has 5 rockets, so a gjally user would do 45k damage, while a non gjally user will do 30k damage. Right now we need 3 gjally users and 3 different rockets to kill him. Now if we make ghorn do 40k per 5 shots, we'll need 4 gjally users and 2 regular rocket launchers and some extra shots from primary to kill it. Most people would go for the easy way where they don't need to shoot extra shots with primaries, that would mean people would require 5 gjallys to do what could've been done with 3 gjallys in the past.[
Important note: the patch hasn't come out yet, we're discussing different outcomes. Who knows what will happen next.

Or maybe dragons breath will shine with this new dlc?
-
-
-
Then in that case, let's nerf the gally down to the level of other guns. Simple enough!
-
Bump ;)
-
Well, then it might lead to another Nerf to Bring it on down to the 'normal' level. It's funny and sad at once to see people saying this, joking or not. It's that weird child defiance thing. 'Oh yeah,?! Well, there! I'll make sure the problem doesn't get solved. I don't want to play with others! I'm a rebel!' I don't have a Ghorn (RNGeezus hasn't blessed me as he blesses others. I work hard to fight, to win, it's all chance in the end) and didn't want to see a nerf. I wanted them to bring up other exotics to levels that might be on par with what the Ghorn offered. They're exotics, they're supposed to be powerful. But powerful enough to be the one and only go to, no. I don't agree with that. There are other means at balance.
-
It'll weed out all of the people we won't want to play with. People should use community websites/forums to find groups as opposed to lfg. The 100 community is pretty great since they don't require specific weapons, and they're willing to teach (at least the Delta 633 company).
-
I've never required anything but effort... No longer... Gjallarhorn is now a requirement, whether they use it or not... At this point, it's just for spite.
-
Gjallarhorn didn't do as much damage as Dragon's Breath.
-
I reluctantly agree. I feel that while not everyone is great at PvE, bad kids with Gally could still do their part in terms of damage output, even if they sucked at everything else. Now, if it's as bad as a nerf as we assume, I'm going to be even MORE selective than before. Those same kids are going up get kicked once their actual skill is revealed, leading to more whining. I see this as a negative. Sorry, but I don't have all day to fail Skolas with bad randoms with a needed Gally.
-
Gjallarhorn. Ruining game communities since 2014.
-
So now if you managed to do skolas with only 1 or 2 gjallys, you need all 3. Crota will once again be all max gjally. Templar the same. You didn't solve anything Bungie
-
There's only one thing that can be done......nerf the wolf pack into oblivion *dramatic horn*
-
I see the logic, but the thing is weapons like hezen vengence and hunger of crota will be more viable options now. I see the Ghorn nerf as forcing us to expand our options.. And try strategies and weapons that we otherwise wouldn't. I'm actually pleased with their decision considering they're attempting to even out the playing field for players who don't have a Ghorn, making those players more useful in raids, poe, strikes, etc. Dragons Breath does the second most dps now! (Behind Hezen Vengence) Time to dust off the sunbreakers..
-
The issue with this logic is that people already pretty much required a full team of gjallarhorn. People like to make sure the target really really goes down. People can die, be out of rockets etc etc. Still to this day I still see people requiring a full team of gjallarhorn for crota hard. Most people have no clue how many rockets are required to bring him down, they just nuke all they have to make sure. This nerf will make other rockets more viable, not the other way you think. The guys who required 6 gjallarhorn will still require 6 gjallarhorn. And when one day another weapon arise, or build or item or whatever it may be they will require that instead. Weapon balance should not be dictated by threats. This change is a needed change, even if you cannot see it right now.
-
It will get nerfed. People will think making it a requirement to have a gally will solve the issue. Bungie will see that the nerf made the issue worse then severely nerf it. Then nobody will want to use it.
@Deej or @Cosmo : you're reading this? Elitism will prevail unfortunately. Go report that back to your game designers ;-)
Childish. If you don't see why, then go ask an adult. Advice: use a different rocket launcher and spend an extra couple minutes to reflect on how childish you're acting

I have 4 gjallys and I'll be happy to finally use something else instead

Edited by o HULK SMASH o: 7/17/2015 5:49:57 PMMy requirement now for people to join; maxed ghorn. Just because of the principle not because it is the best boss gun in game. Stupid whining about not having ghorn is escalating now.
I didn't get ghorn for 800 hours did I make threads on forum; Nooooo. Nooooo. Nooooo. Now deal with the consequences scrubs.
-
At this point! Just sell the -blam!-ing thing!
-
This is going to get worse than it was before.
-
That's exactly what I thought... But o well.. Maybe some day it came across there mind buff a little bit more the base damage of other rocket launchers... Or nerf it even more gjally

Edited by Novastone: 7/17/2015 9:34:41 PMI agree it's gonna make the elitism requirements for joining fireteams worst
-
True, this is correct good sir. I would rather have a full team of Gjallarhorn's than Truths. The Taken King Raid is going to require Gjallarhorn.
