Bungie nerfs Gjally, Gjally still reigns supreme.
Gjally does less DPS, so it'll become more relevant, since everyone in your fireteam will need one to output as much DPS as possible.
More and more posts with Gjally only will emerge on LFG.
JOB WELL DONE BUNGIE! Or am I missing something?
@Deej or @Cozmo : you're reading this? Elitism will prevail unfortunately. Go report that back to your game designers ;-)
Let me make it easy for you, lets say we need 225k damage to kill a boss. Gjally does 9k while other rockets do 6k. Everyone has 5 rockets, so a gjally user would do 45k damage, while a non gjally user will do 30k damage. Right now we need 3 gjally users and 3 different rockets to kill him. Now if we make ghorn do 40k per 5 shots, we'll need 4 gjally users and 2 regular rocket launchers and some extra shots from primary to kill it. Most people would go for the easy way where they don't need to shoot extra shots with primaries, that would mean people would require 5 gjallys to do what could've been done with 3 gjallys in the past.[
Important note: the patch hasn't come out yet, we're discussing different outcomes. Who knows what will happen next.

Never been the type to kick someone because they didn't have it. My boys never kicked me. Imma day one player who didn't get his first Gjallarhorn until March. I've also never seen a raid fireteam that required every person to have one. Usually 2 will do the job just fine as long as it's in the right hands. If people were posting asking for Gjallarhorn only out was probably because they already had people without it and needed am extra. The first week of TTK will be bad for the majority of people without it, but after a couple weeks it'll go back to normal.

Edited by R8 Revolver Only: 7/17/2015 10:00:59 AMThis doesn't make sense at all like are you high on acid? Seriously like wtf? If gally deals less damage more people will need it? Dude just dude... Lets say gally does 6k damage now for example I could use the 6k gally or I could use another weapon that deals less damage but has a perk that gally doesn't have now that the difference in power isn't over -blam!-ing whelming this is actually a good nerf because there will be more variety because lets say you can use truth to kill lots of guys from the big explosion while gally can only kill a select few so shut up about this elitist stuff please. Also before patch gally does about 8.9K damage I think this was a smart move on bungie.

I understand your point, the problem is we don't know how hard the nerf will hit Gjallarhorn. If the nerf is big enough, Gjallarhorn will become equal to all other rocket launchers. For Example The new Raid rocket launcher deals 25k damage and the Vanguard launcher 22k. After the nerf, Gjallarhorn deals 26k damage. That would mean the difference between Gjallarhorn and a legendary rocket launcher would be minimal. Conclusion The important variable is the actual number of damage reduction on Gjallarhorn. If the nerf is big enough it could make Gjallarhorn useless as an exotic.

So you're saying it needs to be nerfed to the point it isn't relevant?
-
Do you suggest they just take out ghorn completely than?
-
Doesn't matter my new credo no gally no play
-
Yep bump
-
So they will nurf it further
-
Yes, makes sense. For example, you only need one gjallerhorn to down crota on normal. Maybe after the nerf, you'll need two. If players insist on having two gjallerhorns on the fireteam then that's one less spot for the non-gjallerhorn guardian.
-
Bungie is lying. That is not the reason why they are nerfing ghally, that's just what they're saying.
-
Hope they nerf it below DB to shut you scrubs up. Dont need any certain weapon to beat anuthing in this game. Lazy -blam!-ing casual Xurners ... thats the -blam!-ing problem
-
Nar I think what will happen is this. Hoo it took me 10 shots to kill that boss now it will take 20. Fuk that I can't be bothered. Because that's happening now. I use my gallys now more to help others than me.
-
You miss the fact you a b!tch
-
I don't really know if something has changed, but I have seen it drop a TON lately and just doing V.dragon strikes, it seems like 2 out of every 3 people have a gally. So I am thinking its not that rare anymore, so it will probably be replaced (or at least matched) by new weapons in The Taken King.
-
Nah, the people who will insist everyone have gjallarhorns are the people who don't understand the encounters. They will be the people who have their fire teams abandon them after they keep wiping the raid.
-
It shouldn't be the only PvE option. I would love to use different guns for different encounters.
-
And you'll know the difference between guardians and assholes
-
Nono, it will lead to. XTREME ELITISM Only the elite of the elite with Gjallarhorn can join. If you don't have max grimoire and THREE maxed Gjallarhorns you can't join anything. ~TheGreatNike
-
Dear lord son, you realize how easy PvE is? You don't NEED gally for jack shit. These "elitists" who think they are good obviously suck ass if they need gallys to complete anything in destiny.
-
Just out of interest, what is it people want ghally for? Poe? Nightfalls are quite often arc\void damage and you defo don't need it for raids.
-
currently dont ask for gally at all, never after nerf will do every single time just coz
-
Edited by MISTER TORGUE: 7/27/2015 8:44:33 AMThis is not a valid argument. As much as I love the gally elite BOSSES like myself They are going to DESTROY the Gjallarhorn to the point where it doesnt matter if you have it or not hahaha
-
-
Right. Even if they cut the wolfpack in half. Its still best launcher. A team with 6 will wreck
-
If I ever start playing again I'm gonna require it
-
Less damage = more gallys wanted
